I haven't posted on here about what's been going on with Believe for the last few weeks. Quite simply, because every night for a week I sat down and tried to write a post about it, and I ended up in floods of tears

so I gave up!

The short version is, over the last few weeks, Be has had a few appointments with the master saddler and has also seen the physio. Aside from being ridden for the saddle fittings, she has been rested, and despite all this, she was still reacting badly (dipping) when being mounted.

We were really starting to worry, and there were mentions of "something more sinister" and "kissing spine" was even mentioned

(Resulting in many sleepless nights and tears from me while we waited for the physio to return for one last check before we called the vet). Anyway, the ending is a happy one.

The physio was able to return on Tuesday this week, by which point she'd had a further 10 days rest from the latest saddle check. Result: well of course she did that typical horsey thing of, as soon as the specialist gets there, not displaying any symptoms, and rode like an absolute dream

He was terribly complimentary about her
smile.gif
and was full of praise for how lovely she moves behind
grin.gif
As well as being VERY impressed with how quickly she settled and worked, despite being young, fresh, there being some new fencing in the field, and having Star bellowing at her from the barn.

All in all, we had one very happy to work horse!!
grin.gif
(I confess, cue tears of relief from me!

) So, problem solved - it seems it was all down to the old saddle, and she just needed more rest than we'd thought following the previous one that didn't fit (I'm a bad Mummy. I feel bad

She is such a sweetie she was jumping everything in it with her ears up too

Anyway, today I find myself with a rather fresh young horse who is fit to go!! A horse who had gone from being fit and working about 2 hours a day, to effectively having a month off.
ooo.gif
A horse who has spent that time eating ab lib haylage - and rather rich stuff too
blush.gif
And so with all that in mind, today we had our first proper ride in a month - SHE WAS A STAR!!

Absolutely foot perfect!! I adore her! I just adore her!!
grin.gif
She is so brave, so sweet, so honest, so fun!!
laugh.gif
All she wants to do is go work and please me!!
grin.gif
There were so many spooky new things about and yet she was bolder than ever. She amazes me. She makes me want to sing and dance with how proud I am. She really is a dream come true. I just feel fit to burst when I look at her.....

Ok, I am done with the irritating self indulgent post. But I just felt it had to be made. I honestly feel top of the world and totally blessed right now. I have magic Beans

*complete with a recent picture just cause I think she looks bootiful*

Thank you!! We called in at my friends racing/hunting yard on the way home, all the boys came running to chat her up, and the yard manager called her beautiful three times in as many minutes - I was one proud mummy

Ah thanks Weezy
smile.gif
I remember what you said when I bought her. If she were half a hand bigger I would seriously worry about her going missing in the night

Yeah, I didn't want to post/talk about it as I tried to and writing it just encouraged my very fearful imagination
frown.gif

But all is well now.
laugh.gif
I just need so hurry up and find a box and the fun, games and competitions can begin
laugh.gif

Thank you

We're very huggy today aren't we

Mares are wonderful.

I think this thing with Be just reinforces how much I love them - I mean, it's now apparent that it was her old saddle that cause this, and yet she has NEVER in 6 months refused a fence, not once!! Or even thrown a buck. The symptom was with mounting, and yet she has only ever been keen to work, and gone up the road with her ears up - we have a massive ongoing joke at the yard about her enthusiastic ears!!
grin.gif
And while this was going on, she'd still stand at the gate expectantlyand hopeful whenever I would feed and not ride her during this perioid. Now we've got this bond I swear she would walk over broken glass if I asked her!!! Weevil says its funny how Be is when she is holding her and I walk out of sight; she wants to follow - she is such a Mummy's girl.
laugh.gif

As for Star - she in in full blown season again today so I have gone from being ignored, to adored this week

grin.gif
But yes, there has been some definite sullking over the last month as now I am back at uni my Mother does about half the feeds per week. Moo has taken note I haven't been about so much *black mark near Mummy's name*
smirk.gif

I really hope one day your girl and my girl/s can meet!
laugh.gif
We can have a girly weekend!
grin.gif

Oh that's WONDERFUL news!!! Wonderful that all is resolved!! Really sorry to hear that you've been having a shite time of it though! She is absolutely STUNNING!!! Great name too

Thank you very much SN.
smile.gif
I shall probably be asking your advice in a couple of years when I want to breed from her!!
grin.gif
My physio/dentist/farrier and saddler all mentioned baby Believes the first time they met her! Physio even has a daddy picked already (for breeding a Burghley winner he reckons!!)
grin.gif

I love her name too. As soon as I saw it on the Ad I though it must be a good omen. Seems it was indeed!
smile.gif

LOL! What can I say?!
wink.gif
We have three HOT, new rowers here. Beautiful men!! I eat lunch/supper with them frequently and they are great guys - really nice company. They are training our boat, etc etc - BUT in honesty, they are totally out of my league
smirk.gif

I am actually living in hope that I shall hear from the pilot again at Christmas - But I think it's more likely he shall be at war
frown.gif

Doh! Had to leave the building for a fire alarm.... and the firemen weren't even hot
mad.gif

They are WAY out of my league
grin.gif
wait till the boatrace and you'll see what I mean
smirk.gif
Makes college cooking more attractive though!
grin.gif

Pilot is likely to be going to Iraq around Xmas time - that's all I really know
frown.gif
I live in hope he may come home instead...
frown.gif

I am delighted that all has ended well. Hugs. You have been through a lot of worry. She is just gorgeous, and so honest. You are rightfully proud of her.
