An idea to make insurance cheaper

Suddenly struck with an idea. Why don't insurances charge less premium for customers who wish to only have six months instead of twelve months treatment from the onset of the accident/illness? This could be incorporated either upon renewal or mid term for a small charge. Would this not be a really effective way of bringing the premium down?

I know it wouldn't be ideal for cases like bad tendon strains which usually can take many months of treatment and healing time, and for rehab work like physio/chiropractor but for things like a lameness evaluation which results in the diagnosis of an abcess or a sudden accident like a cut leg that requires stitching and maybe a second visit, or even a colic episode that require intervention of a vet but doesn't require any further treatment it woudl be ideal.

People take the gamble that they won't lose their horse under 'humane destruction' and therefore take the cost of the animal down on renewal to save the pennies off their premium, or might reduce the amount of vets cover they have. This would just be another extension of the policy - and another gamble.

I would guess that for most of the serious conditions that we insure for the major costs would be very much 'front-loaded' inthe timeframe so premiums wouldn't actually be much/any cheaper.

Agree with Catkin.

Must apologize OP but I clicked on your user profile by mistake due to fat fingers -I'm not spying honest guv'!

LOL will let you off.

What I was saying is that there are two people that I know that reguarly go onto my page and check my posts! They don't realise I know that they are doing it!

Beginning to wonder about insurance, whether its worth it. Had to pay £150 excess, then 20 percent of rest of bill, and now 25% of medication price !
