an interesting study

Seems to me to be a lot of words saying not an awful lot........

Such is scientific research!!

They don't even appear to have done a proper study, just re-written what is already known about glucosamine!

Or what isnt known about glucosamine!

when glucosamine strted being marketed as a feed product i was doing alot of work in london wher the horses are stabled most of the day. it was hideously expensive but if you can afford to keep your horse in richmond in the first place..... anyway a couple of liveries decided to test it and i have to say it did seem to make a difference. the feed and excercise routine of the horses in inner london is by nesssecity very regimented so it is quite easy to see small differences. there was a Which report about that time that said it was a product that needed (in humans) to be high quality to make any diference (you get what you pay for and cheap generic products unlikely to do same job) which i have always applied to feeding it to horses. it also does make a difference to me. i have tested it on myself, cheap, expensive and going without because i had a major accident in the past and have joint problems myself since.

"They don't even appear to have done a proper study, just re-written what is already known about glucosamine!"

- It appears that the pair were conducting a literature review, not a practical study. Such reviews are absolutely important in order to properly collate and manage information produced by the huge quantity of studies being conducted on such a subject. It also provides recomended standards for future studies, so that half baked research is not bandied around to sell sub standard products to the consumer.

I just think it wasnt very well quoted in the article as te article fails to say anything of any use?
Off to find the original paper.....

No you are right about importance of literature review , but I'm not convinced they have said anything particularly enlightening, surely they have just re-hashed what was already known (or not known as Boss pointed out!)

Boss, if you find the research paper I'd be interested to see

Hmm. I am still gonna feed it. I am sure I noticed a difference in my horse. His joints didnt click so much after a week of Synequin and he was less stiff.

Boss if you find that paper can you forward me a copy? Interested as this is exactly what my dissertation was on (Effect of synequin on stride characteristics in oldies) and like to keep up with the research, unfortunately difficult as I am no longer a student and have no access to journals or athens!
