I am helping the Long Riders Guild collect samples of mane or tail hair from every single equine breed. This project is an unprecedented international alliance of equestrian, cultural and scientific co-operation to build an equine DNA data base.

The LRG would like horse owners to get involved and in turn be a part of making history.

Here are the breeds we already have samples for. If you have a breed NOT on this list and would like your horse to represent their breed please let me know.

WOW thank you all so much! Thanks also to those of you who have already emailed or PM’d me – I will reply to everyone as fast as I can.

At the moment we are only collecting samples for pure breeds. Not types or crosses or equines with rare conditions - however, if or when this changes I will let you know.

All the breeds that have been kindly offered so far we need samples for.
