Hello all,

I apologise for not being around much. I have had some big changes in my life, so had a little break.

Ruby is great, but where to start?

We went to our first show, inhand coloured where we came 4th out of 15. I was happy but she was very naughty so it wasn't an enjoyable day.

We had a scare in Sept as she impaled herself on a metal fence, lots of cuts and scrapes, her hock was 5 times the size and she was dragging it behind her, honesrlt thought that was it. Emergancy vet out and was a puncture. Anti b's and bute and lots od rest.

Came back into work and had a full clip (looks very smart) she has never gone better, jumping is great. We are doing 70cms course and her schooling is coming on. Luckily she seems to have forgotten her bad behaviour from last year when bringing in and has been an absolute angel to lead (when I can catch her that is)

I hope everyone and their 4 legged friends are well xx

None from the show as she was so naughty I just wanted to go home!

But have some random ones and some of her hock. Just waiting for photobucket to upload them and I will post

oh my god, sept sounds horrific!! the poor little lady, glad she is doing okay now! and well done on being able to lead her happily, I totally know how that feels, saying it sounds like a tiny thing! but for me, being about to get the boy in and to have him on all 4 feet the whole time and not trying to box me in the face, is a massive massive achievement!

Hope Ruby stays out of trouble :)

Yes it wasn't great. I went down and took the offending fence down! I was terrified her joint would get infected. It was the week before I went on holiday aswell, I had to leave the wound care to my young cousin (who did a fab job)

I sympathize with you, it was an absolute nightmare at bringing in time. Dreaded it most nights!

you didn't buy her from the Basingstoke area did you? just thinking she looks like an old friends baby! with the same name!! prob just a coincidence

I need another lesson asap on my left canter, its not great!

No she came from Devon, then I got her from Brentwood. She had 5 owners from age 2-5 and I haven't been able to manage to track them all down, so could be possible.

Thanks, its a Horseshoe with a Horse and it says Ruby. Although a teapot sounds quite cool!

A Cnp ;) -

‘I’ or ‘me’?

The two personal pronouns I and me are often used wrongly, usually in sentences in which I is being used with another noun. Here are some tips to help you get it right:

Use the pronoun I, along with other subjective pronouns such as we, he, she, you, and they, when the pronoun is the subject of a verb:

He went to bed.
We waited for the bus.
Clare and I are going for a coffee.

In the last example, the pronoun I, together with the proper noun Clare, forms the subject of the sentence, so you need to use I rather than me.

Use the pronoun me, along with other objective pronouns such as us, him, her, you, and them, when the pronoun is the object of a verb:

Danny thanked them.
The dog followed John and me to the door.

In the last example, the pronoun me, together with the proper noun John, forms the object of the verb follow, so you need to use me rather than I.

Use the pronoun me, along with other objective pronouns such as us, him, her, you, and them, when the pronoun is the object of a preposition:

Rose spent the day with Jake and me.

Me, together with Jake, forms the object of the preposition with, so you need to use the pronoun me rather than the pronoun I.

An easy way of making sure you’ve chosen the right pronoun is to see whether the sentence reads properly if you remove the additional noun:

√ I am going for a coffee

X Me am going for a coffee
√ The dog followed me
X The dog followed I
√ Rose spent the day with me

X Rose spent the day with I

So taking the last test, of removing the additional noun, in this case "ruby" the sentance would read " an overdue update on I" Which doesnt sound right. Where as if it were " an overdue update on* me" sounds better.

* on or of? :p

But to the point... Ruby looks so snugly in her stable rug, cute pic :) and gratz on the showing placement!

Edit - I am not a grammar Nazi, I was just curious as to what was actually correct so googled it :p

I was always taught it was 'and I'......... :-s

If you were talking just about yourself and you'd say 'I' then when you add someone else it's 'xxxxx and I.'

If you were talking about just yourself and you'd say 'Me' or 'Myself' its 'xxxxxx and me' or 'Myself and xxxxx.'

So as you wouldn't say 'An update on I,' to say 'An update on Ruby and I' is also wrong.
It would be more correct to say 'An update from myself and Ruby,' or 'An update from Ruby and me.'

If you were saying 'I went to a show,' then it would be 'Ruby and I went to a show.'
But if you were saying 'The show went well for me,' you would say 'The show went well for Ruby and me,' rather than 'The show went well for Ruby and I.'

Just saying :)

And no one jump on me for nitpicking please, just explaining as a couple of people were mistaken and is rather have it explained if it were me :)

Haha! This gave me a good chuckle too!

It's very simple, actually. The sentence has to read correctly without "and Ruby"- that's all. So just remove "and Ruby" to check if it is correct.

So this sentence would read:

An overdue update on I.

In this case, "me" will read correctly.

If OP had said "Me and Ruby went to a show," the sentence would read:

Me went to show.

So "I" would be correct.

It's simply that "and someone" is an addition to the sentence. The sentence must be able to exist without it and still make sense.

Ruby is lovely! She's a very pretty girl. Congrats on coming 4th!
