Today i had phone call from a lady in Dorset that her lost her mare during foaling.A lorry came this afternoon to pick up my mare to see if she would take the foal on.(fingers crossed)
Also, tonight i had a lady come to pick up the milk that i had collected from my mare.It was for her son who is very ill with lukimia(sp?)Apparently the anti-bodies contained in it are very good for him.Just wish i had more milk to give him. When my mother-in-laws mare foals im going to collect some of her milk for him

I've got my fingers crossed that your mare takes to the foal and there can be some sort of happy outcome.

Please keep us posted, let's hope it works out and two sad situations can have a happy outcome.

That's a new one on me, mares milk for leukaemia... I've learned something.

Apparently mares milk is very similar to humans breast milk, which is hard to get hold of,and white rhino milk which is even harder to get hold of!!

What an amazing outcome - through the terrible loss of your foal it has help a sick child and an orphaned foal. I am sure you must draw great strength from that.

How sad for you to see your mare go off on the lorry. I hope she and the foal take to each other. My friend's mare lost her foal the year before last and she went off in a lorry the same night with her dead foal to be a foster mum. She and the orphaned foal took to each other and she spent many months on a posh thoroughbred stud farm!
That is interesting about the milk being good for leukaemia - poor little boy.
I expect your feeling 'flat' now - what a stressful time for you, best wishes being sent your way.
