Will start off with last weekend. Was supposed to be taking a lorry-load show-jumping on the saturday, a pupil's horse, a friend's horse who I was to ride in one class, D'Anver, and William to be diesel horse! However, pupil's parents bought a trailer during the week and were all set up to go in that, then D'Anver wasn't right, and then the times were so spread out that even though it's 45 km away I decided to do a separate trip for friend's horse and William (non-refundable entry fees, was damned if I was going to lose W's too!).

Friend's horse was very good to load, has taken 2 hours in the past, but had had a loading session on the Wednesday which paid off. Went well in the 80 with her sharer, just had the last down in the JO, then my turn in the 90, was quite worried about being showed up by sharer! However we did the same, one down in JO, although had fastest time. Cue very pleased fried as horse can be a nappy bugger, has traded off his looks for far too long! Horse has a Bates Cair saddle and oh my word it was LOVELY to sit in!

Back later with William, was really not in right frame of mind as had been haranguing the dealers all day. Tootled round the 100 in a rather uninspired fashin, thought I went quite fast in JO but only ended up 11th, however was top 25% so won entry fee back. Was first to go in 110, have watched video and really should have had about 5 fences down even before the 2nd phase but they stayed up somehow, galloped round jump-off including smart switch-back to last fence, but had had rail down in double. Was fastest 4-faulter so got entry fee back again.

Things rumbled on this week with D'Anver, but had my vet out Tuesday and news wasn't good. Have sorted things out reasonably satisfactorily with dealers, just hope he does get put down and not traded on and on and on. Let him mooch about on the lunge today and thought how sad it was that such a truly superb horse cannot have a working life.

Oh and this evening found William with a fat leg, he's scraped it in the field somehow and torn off his chesnut which had bled quite a lot. Not lame though so worked him then cleaned it up and popped bandages on. Just got this feeling 2009 is not going to be my year!

On the bright side had news from Italy; Liberty WON his first event on Sunday, led from the start and stayed on his dressage score, so a fab beginning to their partnership. Would be great if she does decide to aim for the Euros this year as they're in Belgium!

A really mixed weekend then t_e - not sure whether to say well done or commiserations.

Have I missed something with D'Anver? (This is the big chestnut?)

D'Anver is new horse yes, and no you didn't miss anything, didn't post whilst situation was not resolved.

Worst thing is I looked in the mirror this morning and could tell I'd had a bad week! So we can add wrinkles to list of unpleasantness too

Oh not the huge new chesnut pony

But YAY to Libs

sounds brill (now Libs "goodness" came from you so you'll have a great 09!!!!)

Oh dear
frown.gif
sorry to hear about D'Anvers but W sounds OK (if daft when out in the field) and news of Libs is the best.
Thanks for keeping us all in the loop xx

Bless

. I'd suggest writing it off to experience or whatever you want to call it and thanking your lucky stars you've managed to sort it out OKish though you must be gutted

No wonder William wasn't his usual sparky self - sounds like the jockey, in the politest way possible, had her mind on other things. Tell Mr W from me that he's going to have a fab year so he'd better start getting his serious competition head on.

Fab news about Libs though. What level was that at?

Oh, and I know what you mean about the wrinkles. Have just looked in the mirror thinking that my mascara had smudged, turns out that the bags under my eyes have their own bags too

Poor you - hope all resolved soon, and you can get on with eventing W.

Of course its not going to be a bad 2009 - don't be daft. Its just best to get all possible unpleasantness out of the way before your season kicks off thats all.

Best of luck (and hugs), oh and Flo say to tell W she has tried the "cut my leg in the field mummy" trick too this week, she's trying to decide whether to eat her tea with the equitrim powder in it at the moment.

I'm sure W is much braver than she is though.

I'm really sorry things didn't work out with the chestnut

Fantastic news about Liberty though

I'm surprised to read you liked the Bates Cair saddle as my sister's got one and I hate it!

What sad news re D'Anvers, but at least its happened quickly before you've put months/years of work in
frown.gif
W better get his act together to cheer you up, I'm sure he's up to the task - where/when is your first event? And great result for L

Many thanks all.

Fiona, William has a naturally suspicious mind and carefully checks any titbit I offer him, I put a few innocent little arnica pills in his tea but will not be surprised if he's managed to leave them!

First event is the last weekend of March, there is one the weekend before but did it last year, and it's the day after my husband's 50th so don't think I'd be forgiven for having an early night! Then hopefully Compiegne Easter weekend, but if not another one or two one-days.

Oh honey
