Well, good news at last! The back brace has gone!!! After wearing it for 15 weeks, I feel like a lump of jelly!!! But I will get stronger.
bad news is after an mri scan last wednesday they have found I have broken the head of my fibula (sp). But as I have had 4 months of doing mothing docs are happy with the healing of it so are leaving well alone.
Docs also said it will be months, probably christmas until I can start even thinking about riding, so we are going down the in hand show pony for now, and then relooking at christmas. I have now been completely honest with myself, and admitted I am not sure I want to ride again, I have injured my back so badly in the past and now, and not sure I want to put myself through it.
But thats the future, and this is now. So back to work hopefully in a couple of weeks, I can drive again, although strangly quite nervous of doing so.
Thanks everyone for your support and kind words. And liquoice alsorts!!!!

That's great news, Benson21. You must be so pleased. Don't feel pressured into making any decision about riding again or not. You've plenty of time to decide. In hand showing sounds fun and will allow you to stay involved with horses without riding. Have fun!

Good news. That's a major step forward for you. Good luck with the driving and return to work. I'm going back to work on monday after 3 weeks off sick and even after that relatively short length of time it feels a bit weird going back, as if I've been away for ages. Are you having to go straight back to full time or are you phasing it in gradually?

I am going back on monday, wednesday and friday to begin with and then build up from there. I have been off for just over 4 months now, so quite nervous about going back, and I am gonna miss my Jeremy Kyle now!!!

Glad to hear you are doing so well and good luck with going back to work. I am sure you will really enjoy in hand showing. It is so relaxing, no working in, just a bit of polishing and lots of time to chat to people and your horse. It is rather like a horsey day out with trophies. Enjoy x

what wonderful news! i often think of you, and hope you're well. you'll get stronger and stronger every day and will look back soon and it'll seem like such a long time ago.

you must be very proud of yourself. and deservedly so.

well done Benson21! xxx

Great news! I have 2 friends who have had very serious back issues so have a little empathy.. Actually one was seriously looking at driving as she can never ride again.

If showing in hand - have you also thought of veteran showing? my old boy got his second wind with his last sharer doing in hand veteran as he still loved going out!

Great news about the back. I will be looking out for the posts "Benson21 what about this one" as everyone starts looking for your perfect show pony for you :D:D

Yey!! Well done Benson21!! Fabulous news :D

I don't like liquorice, but have some Minstrels here that I'm happy to throw into the mix as part of the celebration :D :D :D

Hey there benson21 - how lovely to hear such a positive post from you :D

Can't wait to see pictures of you out and about with a little show horse!

Great news, it must be a huge relief to have the brace off!!

Try not to stress about the riding, see how you feel when the time comes and make a decision then. As others have said you can have a lot of fun with driving, in hand showing, minis are adorable, etc.

YAY! Onwards and Upwards for you hun. :) But try to keep it slow hey. :) Small steps. Sounds like you are on the road to recovery - physically anyway. *hug* Sounds like you have a good plan to start getting back in the swing. Keep us posted. Lots of positive thoughts coming your way. xx
