"Anaemic" horse - what to do next?

I had a poorly mare about 7 weeks ago and we ran bloods. She also had high inflammation markers (was off her food and very listless) and got 2 doses of steroids as a result. Apart from giving me sleepless 'laminitis risk' nights, it did put her back on track. She has also had ulcers in the past so we decided to do 3 weeks of [uninsured and incredibly expensive] omeprazole on the basis that the inflammation was highly likely to be stomach related.

I haven't re-run her bloods, but if yours has had ulcers in the past it might be worth assuming they are back and treating as if they are - then seeing whether that gives you an improvement.

Oh what a nightmare! Yes I do definitely think the ulcers may have made a return to be honest which I was dreading so I'll definitely be having a scope, i'd start treating beforehand but i think i'll wait until he can scope just so I am 100% sure he has them! I just wish i could have a little chat with him and find out what's wrong!
