Anal Gland infections........

I have a 13 year old cavi who at the moment has a anal gland infection. She is on her second week of antibiotics and I'm emptying them each night as she starts to leak and smell.

Though this new lot of antibiotics she hasn't smelled until she needs emptying.

I was just wondering if anyone else had any experience with this.m

We have just changed her good about two/three months ago to wainwrights dry and meat. She is very active dispite her age and is only and painkillers for arthritis in her hips and lower back....and no heart problems.


Also I think she might have cainine cushings as her coat is crappy and she is drinking and weeping a lot more.

Any advise would be greatly received.

one of mine had an anal gland infection. he started smelling AWFUL and i noticed leaky bloody pus type discharge. I took him to the vet, washed him out and put on a course of antibiotics. i didn't have to we returned for a wash out 7 days later i think and he was nearly all cleared up.

hopefuly she is on the mend. Empted them this morning as they were full and just normal colour and no smell so fingers crossed she is doing okay.
