Ever since Bear was neutered, he has been leaking anal gland fluid. It's now getting to appoint where he can't have cuddles because he leaks on my clothes and the furniture. It definitely did not happen prior to his neutering. Can it possibly be related? Does he just need them expressed constantly? He has plenty of bone in his diet.

The boys are off to the vet for boosters this week so I'll be asking the vet about this and how to express his glands (then switching practices for various reasons)

Never heard of it been related, I have a problem with gizmo anal glands they need doing oftern however one is set back so I cannot pop them easily he has bran in his food just to help bulk him out more this helps a lot so don't have to put him through having them popped.

I have thought about having them out but touch wood the bran seems to be helping a lot.

My lab x collie has problems with his glands too. seems to be always leaking etc and it bothers him quite a lot. the vet showed my mum how to empty them but she cant seem to do it, took him back to vets so they could do them and charged £15 for a 5 second job!!

I don't see how the two can be related, but it's odd how it started after he was neutered. He licks a lot, so I guess it's annoying him. he has lots of Ben to eat, which I thought was supposed to help?

Mine has a flare up whenever he has antibiotics or anaesthetic, can't figure out which as they always go hand in hand with him, it interferes with the gut flora I guess and somehow that affects them. Maybe your boy is the same?

Have they had a good drain before? And are they infected? Best get your vet to give them a good going over if your happy to do them get him to show you it's very easy. He may need some anti botics.

I've not heard of it being related, but as you know my dog does the scooting thing and my vet said if it became a problem she could have her anal glands removed, be about 350 quid, its something I'd think about for the future but at the mo its not causing too much probs, she has them expressed if needed, when she goes to the groomers. If they are contstantly leaking I'd defo give that a thought
