My horse's dressage and jumping saddles both slip forwards, saddler has adjusted multi times but says it is the horse's conformation rather than the fit which is the basic problem - flat back, powerful back end, well sprung ribs, forward girth groove, high and well set back shoulder. He suggests trying non slip pads and curved/anatomic girths. Any thoughts on what's worked best for you, especially girths? With the girths it's not so much elbow room I'm looking for, but dealing with the slipping forwards problem. Does anyone have a 26" 'Torsion Moon' girth they would sell? Cheers.

Hattie has the same problem as your ned, it's her conformation which is the problem.

Well, I had my saddle compeletly reflocked and fitted to her a month ago, spent £78 on a curved girth, and countless money on various non-slip pads (even a Barnsby one) and I came to the conclusion yesterday after trotting for a few minutes at the beginning of our hack (anf the saddle sliding forward) that NOTHING is going to help.

She doesn't seem bothered by it and this saddle that I have now, doesn't slip forwards nearly as much as all the others I have had tried did (a bit less so too with the curved girth) so I'm just going to give up!

If a better fitting saddle cannot be found (might mean trying on scores though) the only thing that helps is a Barnsby Grip Pad. Can recommend them.

my friend has a friesian with opposite prob-saddle slipping back also caused by confirmation and only thing that stops it is the barnsby grip pad-its worked wonders for her

my pony is a bit bum high and also round as anything, her saddle does fit properly but jumping she does get a slight slip forwards still sometimes.

I use Stubben trevira girths and never looked back. best £30 ever spent !

have you tried a stubben trevira girth? i was at the end of my tether, tried numerous saddles ( and saddlers) now have saddle that does fit but due to her shape and conformation was still getting a slight slip forwards but now dont due to this girths shape and hold.
