Can anyone suggest any anatomical bridles that don’t have a flash-type noseband/chin fastening (that aren’t massively expensive in the scale of anatomical bridles)? A cavesson with a comfort headpiece/cheekpiece maybe? A lot of the ones I see have flashes built in - are they essential to the design/keeping everything in the right place?

Sorry should have been more specific in my waffley post - I’m looking for something with a plain cavesson noseband rather than removable flash but I’ll have a look at eco rider, thanks!

Very few of the truly anatomical ones have flashes, though for sure many have fastenings around the chin. Have you looked at Quantum, or any other specialist brands? There's a lot more to it than just a comfort head piece, keeping the cheekpiece down away from the eye, the noseband and cheekpiece away from the nerve outlet lower down the face...

yes I was wondering if the chin fastening is necessary to keep the different shaped cheek pieces in the right position etc. just had a quick look at quantum - the snaffle bridle looks ideal, but a bit out of my price range at the moment!

Horsemanship Saddlery, I just bought a bridle. But suggest you get advice on which headpiece you get as they have 5/6 and the most suitable depends on space behind the ears and the correct angle of the cheek pieces down to the bit. You buy each part individually, they have a diagram on how to measure and it is all straightforward other than the headpiece. I bought 3 headpiece seconds to try as you can do them up properly to check the size and get a full refund. If you mark the leather of 'new' items you won't get a full refund. There are sometimes items for sale on FB Marketplace. I needed an XF headpiece & browband, full throat lash and cob cheeks and noseband. I'm really pleased with it

Amazing how many companies advertise their bridles with pictures showing all the issues you mention! I know years ago we didn't worry about such matters (if you could get a strap the right length who cared where the buckles sat) but we know better now

I booked a bridle fitter. She eliminated Shires straight away.
She brought out 3 Horsemanship headpieces and the one she thought least likely fitted.
My pony has an Avante with full head , pony cheeks and cob everything else, no flash.
Money well spent I think.

Kramer do one like this, I could not get it to sit right on any of my horses!

I just checked and don't have a bridle quite like this. But, of course, not all bridles will fit every horses' individual anatomy. :) I was quite happy that the Fairfield bridle was a fit for my guy, as he has a massive head and I could never find bridles with a fitting chinstrap, that would also not interfere with the sensitive spots on his face.
