Am I right in thinking that anatomical bridles you have to use a noseband with as the noseband is integral to the headpiece?

I'd like to get a nice bridle and just wondering about the anatomical ones .. but I ride without a noseband so don't want to have a loose end where the noseband would be attached.. does that make sense.

I use a Quantum anatomical bridle, the noseband is fully removable as it is slotted into the cheek pieces so you can easily use the bridle without it. The bridle is kept in pace by the strap under the jaw so would stay in place.

I use Micklems without the bottom strap that stops the mouth being opened. I take it off, they work fine.

Horsemanship Saddlery do one that is just a headstall I think.

The HS ones have two 'straps' for things to attach to, usually noseband and cheekpieces, with the throatlatch threaded on to the lower strap. However, they also do a double-buckle throatlatch, so you can use one strap for the cheekpieces and bit and one for the throatlatch.

I have Heritage ones, and for a while just took the noseband off when the BM had swollen glands. It does have two wee straps on the headpiece (one for cheekpiece, one for noseband), but the appearance wasn't significantly impacted by not attaching a noseband, I thought.
