Hi there,
Just looking for some advice/suggestions.

I have a very old (maybe 70's) Rice Beaufort Double.

I haven't used in about 2 years, as it needs a new floor, but it is sound structually.

It is tatty, and old. I don't really want to send it to the scrappy, but do you think it is my best option?

It has been good to me over the years, and is great to tow.

Maybe it could be a project for someone starting out....

I am just off to a meeting but will check back later.

Thoughts would be much appreciated.

I can think of at least one of my friends who would give something like this a good home if all sound except the floor. Would be a shame to scrap if it could do someone a good turn

This is what I was thinking.

If I hadn't had got this old, yet useable trailer, then Benj and I would never have gone out and had fun.

I will see what the rate of scrap is and try and see where I can advertise.

Well, I have a trailer that matches that description except I bought it when it already had the new floor, new tyres, new electrics/brake cables, they are definitely worth preserving!

I think it may need a new hitchlock thing though, it can be a bugger to unhitch sometimes
 
Put it under Equestrian rather than cars. Take lots of photos, especially of any dodgy bits. If its roadworthy ie tyres and lights are ok then nothing to worry about legally.If lights are not working then say they need to bring a trailer board to get them home. I would list it as a project trailer as there are loads of people who would happily do up a trailer.
 
I sold a 30yo Beaufort with a 6 month old new floor off Beart's(n Norfolk) courtyard a few years ago for £1350 within the week....brakes and leccy all renewed at some time but paint patchy. They were renovating a triple there that was so old the alli-panels had holes in! The basic chassis on these goes on and on. Talk to them...it was a nice trip up from n essex.
 
We sold 30yo rice trailer this time last year. Needed entire new floor, tyres, re-painting, basically everything! Had been used to store hay for a couple of years.

Sold for £600 through freeads & could have sold it three times over :)
 
Yep, def sell it. Someone will buy it.

I bought a 1987 trailer couple of weeks ago for £400 and my Dad has put a new floor in for me and Ive got a mechanic freind doing new tires and sorting electrics for me and Ive re-painted thed inside.
BARGAIN!!!!
Although it always helps (and costs less) if you know people that can do the work that needs doing :0)
 
If you wanted it to go to a good cause instead, you could give it to your local Fire Service Animal Rescue Team. The fire service are now receiving regular training on all types of animal rescues including horses and do a fantastic job of keeping people safe and rescuring their animals. Equipment for this type of work is not centrally funded and I know our lot (Hampshire) are always grateful for free stuff like this. They might not be kind to it though - the last one we conjured up is going to the New Forest Show next week where the sides will be removed so that people can see what a typical rescue might look like.
