^^^stupid google advert up there calling house training 'potty training'. Since when did we start calling house training potty training? Are we now supposed to be training our dogs to use the loo then flush after them? What next? Canine toilet paper?

I cant see the google ad but sympathise with your rant

My personal dislike is people calling them 'boy dogs' and 'girl dogs' - they are dogs and bitches, and always have been! - but apologies if that offends/upsets anyone on here

I noticed last night that they are doing it on the greyhound rescue website now - aaaaargh!

I almost exploded watching It's Me or the Dog USA the other night, the stupid owners had their poor French Bulldog bitch running around in a nappy, and when VS enquired as to what it was their reply was 'It's a diaper because she's having problems with potty training', at which I shrieked 'No, YOU are having trouble HOUSE training your dog, not her' so loudly that poor Henry leapt off the sofa (he had been asleep up to that point!

)

It was the way that they explained it like it was the dog's fault that really made me mad, especially since VS had her properly housetrained in no time

You really arent going to let me side track your rant are you

...although actually I don't particularly like people calling them boy dogs and girl dogs either, I think it is all a bit cutesy-wutesy. Henry is a DOG, not a boy (well, ok, sometimes I call him a little barsteward to add some variety
grin.gif
)

Most of those ads up there get on my nerves

My two's breeder, and his father, won't say 'bitch' they say 'female' and I am afraid the habit is catching because I find myself saying and writing it all the time
blush.gif

Yes, but female is better than saying it's a little girl / boy, which I have heard, it's all very well calling them boy / girlwith tongue in cheek but if you're actually being serious in saying 'he's a little boy!' it all contributes to this idea that dogs are just furry little children, that need potty training (gah!), and pretty clothes and shoes and sunglasses (which these eejits on the TV also had for their dogs!), and next thing you know you have horrid little spoilt yappy rat things running round biting people's ankles because some twit decided to get one and treat it like a dolly......

Gee, does it show that I am a bit hormonal today?

You can buy an attachment for the toilet in Pets at home which lets your cat use the toilet so I suppose you could train a dog to use it too!!

All ranting aside, I am very excited about Henry's new fleece turning up, and will be posting pictures

That Hen, hmph, honestly.... she'll be ordering Otto a fleece of his own soon, just you wait until she sees how quickly Henry dries off and doesn't get all cold and shivery with his dodgy hips...

Errm....I've always called it potty training. In fact, when I'm out with the dogs and I want to hurry them along I say "hurry up, go potty". Of my three, only one gets it. One's deaf and can't hear me anyway. The other is just daft.

But I always find it a bit weird when people tell me their dog has "done the toilet" To me a toilet is just the ceramic thing that is between the sink and the tub.

I tend to say male and female rather than dog and bitch. I do refer to dogs that have't had the snip as "boys with balls", but only in jest. It sounds sort of superhero-ish, which is what they clearly are in Stella's eyes

I remember that episode of IMOTD. Diaper nuttiness aside, I can't believe those women lived in such a cramped townhouse with two Boxers and a Frenchie.
