Oh dear - we went to Pachesham today and got a dressage score (prelim) and we got 45%
confused.gif

Oh well, he was nappy in the warmup and after I cracked him he settled down.

The bonus points are:

a) I've NEVER done a dressage test - not even walk and trot and I can't ride a circle properly for toffee
grin.gif

b) the minute he got in the arena he behaved and although we did a few giraffe impressions he was good

c) we got some lovely pics

d) i wasn't last!!
grin.gif

So I guess we can only go up from here? I'd only ridden the test once due to his nappiness in the school over the past few weeks but that is all changing now - I want to do much better next time!!

How did everyone else get on today?

Don't worry about it! I have a 47% on a test sheet from when my young horse took off down the long side, reared, ran backwards, and leaped sideways with his head in the air.......it happens. Onwards and upwards!

Blimey we didn't do any of that.....must be my riding!

Considering I have an eversion to schooling I think it's what we need to work on - can only help with jumping!

You only got the lowest score at Pachesham today because I hit the dirt in the warm up - Devil Pony found the mirrors just tooooo scarey to just walk past and after getting back on had to call it quits as I have a mangled hand, mangled ankle and a bruised arse!!!

Devil Pony had been pretty good up until then so happy none the less....

OMG - we saw you
grin.gif
what time were you warming up and were you on chestnut/bay pony? I was on the dark bay who was napping at the gate and Chocolate Log's boy was being a bit of a knob aswell....ho hum - things can only get better!

That was a dirty old spook he put on - I just saw you coming out the side door
confused.gif

I thikn you were parked next to Chocolate Log as well (big pink lorry!)

For a quiet event, there was certainly a lot of excitement?!!

Ps - I was second from last, not last! And the final scores hadn't gone up so I may, by the skin of my teeth, clawed myself up to third from last!

45% seems a bit harsh, seeing as your horse didn't do any of the above!

Well done though, you've got the first one out of the way. It'll be easier next time.

Yeah, I was on the little bay TB. He's exracer and hasnt yet learned how to cope with warm up arenas. I had taken him past that mirror twice but the sun was glinting off it and he shot right and I stayed left... Major improvement from the last time though, just dissapointed we didnt make it too the test.

I'm glad someone saw it and could see it was a dirty spook, makes me feel better...! lol!

Yeah, we have blue Jeep and trailer, was parked next to lovely grey and pink lorry with stunning big dark bay horse..?

Will definately go back there though, was pretty relaxed and horsey did settle a bit in the end...

Well done for surviving the day though and not being last...!!! onwards and upwards!!!!

Don't worry, it leaves you plenty of room for improvement. At least you didn't make as much of a fool of yourself as I did last time I went to Pachesham. Was supposed to be doing an affiliated Novice. Horse was a gem in the warm up. Took him into the arena where he presently bolted off broncing and then almost took out the judges car. We decided to retire before even starting!

yeah once he gets in the arena/ring he knows his job - all very strange!

I was the otherside of your pink lorry!! We didn't do much better than you - we got 48.26%. I blame the judge!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

ooo were you the lady we were talking to? Our boys were facing your trailer?

Scarlett - yes I remember seeing you and was going to ask how you got on but then thought you might have thought I was made....I've had falls in the warm up and know how it feels!

Bruce is Chocolate Log's boy and he was near the fence (gorgeous bay) and Oscar (my boy) was nearest the bonnet - he kept winding up the dogs in the lorry and jumping when they jumped at the window, then going back for more.....ha ha

*giggles at this whole post*

Yup that was us - Vicks you didnt do to badly - I got a 3 for my 'halt immobility spook' at F - Bruce said

a) Where the F*@K are the jumps maaaan?

b) The end of the school was VERY scary

c) See above re: white boards

I also think the judge was a bit harsh with the scores lol!

Anyway WE DID IT - and as I said this morning we will keep going...onwards and upwards - I am aiming for a good 10% more next time lol!

Hello to Scarlett - that was a very impresive exit this morning - Bruce did exactly the same thing. Your horse is lovely *swoon* and looks...er...very well and highly strung!

And ChunkMonkey25 hello again!

Its funny who you meet on here! LOL!

I will leave you with the judges sympathetic comments -

At F - Walk....... Spooking. Not forward, then rushed into trot with 1/4s not on track.

translated as

Spooking. Head up like a giraffe, then stopped refused to move and got a pony club kick and a smack. Then trotted of, tanking, sideways LOL!

And i VERY much liked her end comments.

That wasnt easy...he was very full of himself. A good try.

Translated as

What a spooky nob head! LOL!

my best comment of the day was good halt shown, a little tense in move off. Sounds fine but in the real world he halted, I asked him to trot on and he reared bolt upright!!! Then came the pony club kick, and a bloody good slap on his arse!! He didn't do it again!!

My first dressage test was done mostly in sideways canter! It was only the speed which varied.

It was really embarassing and I just kept going. The look on the judges face as we cantered down the centre line was a picture and we halted sideways on.

That was years ago on a part bred arab mare. A friend said I was the only person she knew who would count from the bottom of the scores instead of the top!

We did end up being placed in a novice though.

My present boy rarely comes home without a rosette.

my best one ever has to be when he bucked his way around a 20m circle in canter and the judge wrote "obidient to canter yet very jolly"!!!

[/ QUOTE ]That has just made me laugh out loud like an idiot. I would love to go out for a coffee with that judge!
