Some of you will have spotted my post in "Weekend Plans" thread (and big thank you to my pals who spotted it and got in touch asking after Hopalong today.

)

For those who didn't spot it, a wee summary-

Got to the yard yesterday morning to find this;

Fatleg2.jpg

:( :( :(

They were kept in due to high winds yesterday so lovely YO gave me magnetic boots and rug to put on her for the day. Walked her for 20mins up and down hard track in the evening and this was the result;

Fatleg3.jpg

Down, but still not normal. :(

This morning fatter but not as bad as yesterday?! :confused:

Fatleg4.jpg

Out for a few hours turnout today then spent the afternoon with magnets on again. Still a little puffy but better. Decided to see if a little work would reduce the swelling so braved the howling wind (and killer mini shetland lurking on the other side of the fence at the top end of the arena, Hopalong had kittens on our first lap round! :rolleyes:) and rode for 20mins. Just some light schooling. She felt fine and afterwards her legs looked like this;

:D Now I am aware that to most folk, spotting a big wind gall is a bad thing, however it is "scarring" from her 2007 annular ligament injury, so I was more concerned that with the swelling I couldn't see it. ;) This is what a "normal" Hopalong leg should look like, all is well again. :D

We did a 12mile hack on Sunday and maybe it just was a little too much trotting/roadwork for Hopalong's legs who don't quite keep pace with her brain and enthusiasm?! :confused: Will make sure not to go our rambling quite so long in the future.

So apologies to everyone (FlyingCoo and smurf especially who have been talking me down from my mental ledge of spending entry fees on vets bills instead and being a complete PITA for the last 24hrs! :o ) for the drama queen moment, hopefully normal service will resume and Hopalong WILL get to this weekend's party. <crosses everything tightly> I'm away visiting family (apparently I need to see them in amongst pony parties or they huff?! ;) ) Fri night-Sat evening, so she'll get tomorrow and Sat off anyway, then wee trot up to make sure all well before Sunday.

Glad to hear all is well again -bless her, she wanted a bit more attention ;) I'm like this with Mol after her hock injury. It's just natural. Good luck and fingers crossed for Sunday x

I don't blame you after having a horse off for injury last year you are definitely going to panic at the sign of anything remotely abnormal - that's what I am like anyway :D

everytime I get on I have that moment of 'oh does he feel unlevel' then a minute of thinking I can feel something, then reassurance that actually all is well!!!

Glad to hear everything is looking ok!! Look forward to hearing how Sunday goes :)

Don't feel bad, I totally understand how you feel. I was like that after Miss R's surgery in September, looking for that off-step or change in her leg.

Poor H, didnt spot your previous post but glad she's looking much better now. Totally understand the panic, they do like to keep us on our toes!

Good luck on Sunday! :D

That first picture would have me needed some form of medical attention as well as the horse! Glad she's just done it to keep you on your toes!

Reg did something similar on his leg with his old injury on. Came in 3-legged with a leg the size of a balloon and burning hot to touch. Panic stations assumed, until a small bite was found. Being a sensitive soul, he'd been bitten and kicked himself because it itched and then had a total overreaction to both... Gone in 3 days.

Panicking is what horse owners do best. Horses train us to do it from the moment they enter our lives. Just makes the relief so much more pleasant. :D
Good luck for the weekend

Horses! They are sent to try us. Am so glad that all is ok now, and dont worry, you really are not the HHO Drama Queen, believe me. Sorry to hijack your thread, but under the circumstances this might make you feel a bit better ......

I TOLD you so! And chill.... She will be find I'm sure and raring to go with appropriate legs come Sunday :D

Thank you, more than happy you are getting chance to say "I told you so"! ;)

Thanks, it's hard not to over react after an injury, isn't it? :(

Cheers, would like to say "Glad it's not just me", but really would wish that none of us had to worry at all. ;)

Thank you, it does make you completely paranoid. :(

Oh I had completely missed this! Fingers crossed all okay. Are you sure it is not Hopalong that is the real Drama Queen here ?!? Anything for extra attention :rolleyes:

Cheers DHB, hmmm, I like the idea of calling Hopalong the Drama Queen, not me, thanks! :D

Thank you! Hope J doing ok. x

Thanks lolo and ouch, poor Reg! Thankfully there has never been any heat added into the mix so I should really have not hit the panic button quite so soon. :rolleyes: :o

Thank you, I just wish there was a quota that you had to suffer and then no more?! ;)

Hope all is well come Sunday *fingers crossed* :)

Thank you, me too!

Didn't see it as haven't had time to sit and read the thread yet, but glad all is ok :)

Cheers, she looked fine this morning, so fingers crossed for Sun.

I'm away today/tomorrow catching up with my Mum and Dad (had to pencil in a visit at some point around horsey events to keep them sweet! ;) ) so will reassess Sat night when I get back from visiting and then hopefully all go for Sun. :)

Sorry clicked wrong button .....

Mini TX's little mare has a swollen fetlock, its not too serious, more like a strain. So a few days on box rest and bute and then vet is coming back next week. She can hack gently though. I have managed to get her Aldon entry fee back as the ballot is today, and I will get most of her Moreton entry fee back with a vets letter. You would have thought it was the end of the world though. She is really determined to get on our regions JRN team, and ALdon is a qualifier. We have had wailing, nashing of teeth and much moaning at missing two events......... The award for HHO Drama Queen is most definitely not you.

Hope all goes well though, they do know how to worry us.

Glad it's improved - fingers crossed you get to go play at Gleneagles on Sunday! :D

Ta- hope so too! Have primed Mr FigJam for an early start anyway...! :p

:( Oh no, poor Mini TX and her pony. :( :( That is very worthy of great upset, but I am sure there is a Plan B that can be getting formulated right now for alternative qualification? :confused: Will keep everything crossed that she is on the mend and ultimate goal can still be achieved for Mini TX. x

I am glad she is ok. I do not think you are a drama queen, and neither does my OH, who when I came home the other day telling him GBO was malingering again, asked if he was really properly ill and having to be PTS this time, or whether in fact it was something relatively minor which would resolve itself in a few days, because I always assume the former and it turns out to be the latter. I do love my supportive husband, but I do want to kneecap him for being right all the time ;) He said I was being a drama queen again when I told him that.... :D

Thanks for that, I really cant understand why I am being so calm about it, as I am normally totally and utterly beside myself when something happens to either of my horses. All being well it will be fine as there are 3 more JRNs in the season and I think its only 2 or 3 count, plus she has to do an IN at Bricky later in the season. so it will be fine. However, if she doesnt get to Weston Park (if she does, be prepared for utterly sick inducing totally indulgent mummy reports on each day of competition, plus reports of the trot up etc, plus loads of pictures) for whatever reason, Plan B is to do Aldon CCI 1*, whichever direction it takes, she will achieve the desired 1* run, plus may be her first Intermediate as well. Who knows.

SC - OH's are so helpful arent they? Send GBO round to me for a cuddle then, he wont have too far to go. Dont forget, I spent the whole day at Homme House thinking what a lovely boy he was and if he wanted to go home with me instead. Hope he is ok soon, they really do know how to try our patience and make us all poorer people paying their vet bills.

What will be wll be though, and to FJ, hope all goes well for you and Hopalong.

Good news from Paranoid City :D.
You're definitely not alone - Bertie went XC schooling today and there was some talk of whether his leg would be ok over the coming season even though he's been working quite hard over the last few months. If he was going to break again he probably would have by now (but he'll still only run on perfect going :)).

so glad all is well - having had annular ligament op this time last year on the cob with attitude, can sympathise wholly! He is banned from jumping an dcompeting on grass by vet and so far so good! Keep on with the drama queen sceenario - obviously working well!

What didn't realise there was an award for drama queen??:)

No not at all drama queen and completely understandable with everything you and Madam H have been through and thankfully it has been nothing serious and just her testing you.......again!

However, when we say it's time to panic then you can and not before then!!

Won't see you Sunday having a flee around but Good Luck!!:)

Always nice when they manage to pleasantly surprise us, not the other way!

Thank you, not had a proper chance to catch up on W stuff, but hope he is ok and sending you lots of super strength vibes, you have much more reason to be concerned than me. :( But I really do hope W is back raring to go asap.

I think you and I are very similar?! (and Mr SC and Mr FJ could do a great deal of sympathising with each other over a beer while we over analyse ever mis step and funny look our horses pull?! ;)

What will be wll be though, and to FJ, hope all goes well for you and Hopalong.

That is true. Everything crossed that Mini TX is not sidelined too long and Plan B can be implemented with no issues. :)

If he was going to break again he probably would have by now.

A lot of folk have said that to me about her previous injury(s!), it's just the thought is never far away, is it? I am sure Bertie will be flying this year with no problems. Not sure if us paranoid lot should form a support group or steer clear of each other for fear of egging each other's paranoia on?! :p

So pleased H is ok, good luck on Sunday:)

Thank you! :)

Luckily we avoided op, but it was mentioned at the start of the process. Managed it with a LOT of rest and steroid treatment. She has been fine since and competed to PN fine before 2010's choice of injury (cruciate ligament, stifle). :rolleyes:

Hmmm... I shall remember that rule in case I ever need to repeat it back in future?! :p Thanks again for keeping me in line and listening to my whinging... til the next time! ;) Sorry I'll miss you and the FlyingCoo tomorrow, but have a blast! :D

Somehow missed this too, but glad the alarming puffy leg has returned to normal proportions! Long may that continue! :)

Thanks, very relieved too. Tonight's update is that leg was perfectly normal on arrival at the yard this evening (having been stood in stable for a good few hours), ice cold and only the teeniest fit of "normal" filling if I were being picky. Quick 10min spin round the school to check she felt fine (and she did! :D) then super quick clean and polish of pony/tack (hadn't wanted to do it any early in case of jinxing things! :o ) and we are good to go tomorrow. :D

Alarm set for stoopid o'clock (and Mr FigJam has been briefed on the early departure, he can snooze on the way there but I have told him that HHO demand action shots this time! :p ) so I'm off to bed. Night all and I'll report back tomorrow. :D

Thanks again, really appreciate everyone's support.
