And the idiot said 'riding him is cruel, he should be free...'

A pointless post but here you go:

I had a ranting witch of a weirdo woman yell this ^ to me whilst I hacked past her car today. Well, apart from the fact that my horse just loves his work, the variety, getting out and about, and human bond he has with his rider, I thought of the picture below which was taken as he'd finished his xc at Firle BE last weekend, and thought 'if that's not a happy horse who loves his job I don't know what it!!' :D

So I thought I'd ask if any of you have pictures which sum up how happy your horse is with whatever their role in life is?

Some people are crazzzyyyy! Gorgeous horse btw.
I knew a girl who said she wouldn't get on a horse since she didn't know the vegan stance on it...well I'm vegan and ride haha. She said it was cruel to ride them and we should let them free. Silly people
Donkey enjoys sunbathing and jumping despite old age.

I always hope and pray I will never turn into a wierd witchy woman when I'm older - they are a species all of their own. I fail to see how horses can run free when people like her are driving cars in the countryside though. And presumably she lives in a mud hut in case her home disturbs the free environment that horses should be running in...

I moved to a small family yard a few years ago, on livery. All the people there thought I was cruel to ride my horse at all - their's hadn't left the field for years. And this was in the Dartmoor National Park, fantastic hacking in every direction - bonkers!

Anyway... a picture. Horse and rider looking miserable as sin, with obviously no bond at all. Cruel owner to take the horse's rug off to satisfy her whim to ride it. Pah! Enjoy!

I am vegan too :D and I ride and always will do. The majority of horses enjoying having a purpose and a job, much like we do!!

Yeah we aren't eating them or abusing them...so what's the problem haha. We are making them actually live longer and helping them enjoy life!

My ex brother-in-law declared that horses only jump because they are scared of what might happen to them if they don't! Try telling my big fellow that, as you don't dare point him at anything unless you want to jump it!

I was once standing next to a girl at Blair Castle Horse Trials, watching the showjumping, and overheard her say 'I hate all the leather round their faces, it's just so cruel! They shouldn't be allowed to do this'

I did feel like turning round and commenting 'then why did you come to a horse show then?' but didn't bother.

Yes, you are all cruel! You should set them free so they can do handstands on their tippy-hooves like this :D :

otherwise they will hate you and want to eat you!

He looks like he's hating every minute of this SJ round! In fact every picture I have of him he looks like he's loving it.

Apart from this one actually he just looks really confused but started enjoying himself once he realised how fast he could go on the beach. :D

Loving all these pictures :)

I wonder what the woman in the car feels about the number of animals that 'roam free' that are mown down by cars and their bodies left strewn along the roadside? I expect that's different. :o

Daughter's truculent mare Bella, this horse LOVES to jump, she's bold as brass and rarely refuses, if she doesn't want to to do something trust me you would know :D

Daughter's lovely gelding Basil, he seems to have a permanent smile in his soul, not quite as bold as the mare but he has really come out of his shell and get so excited by his jumping (and even dressage!)

yup hating it so much ;) in fact my threat tends to be if he is naughty I will leave him up there with the wild ponies :D

And this is my mum's horse on the beach ridden by a friend... While mine was having a minor wobbly about the ice cream van she found some fans (aka Brummie holidaymakers!) to give her some attention ;) :D

Sharers veggie friends think it's cruel to ride and they should be free, I can just see all the arabs and TBs wandering free round milton keynes!

If we didn't ride them, or eat meat for that matter, how does she think all the lives would be saved?? They wouldn't be bred in the first place.

oh send her to us... my youngster is rapidly turning into the proverbialy spoilt brat as in recovery - so no work and he is not a horse that that suits. Yard is very much looking forward to Billy being back in work and less of a handful to manage. Yes we are all sooooo pleased he is feeling better as really worried us all last week but he could just button it a BIT till I can work him.

Having watched him literally drag YO across the yard and then have a stiff reminder in manners. He normally has the utmost respect for her (!) but is pushing it atm!

Ha, the nut woman was probably the biggest joke in the world, Liz Jones. She had a ridiculous "article" - I use the term loosely, in the DM last week about how a hypnotist had cured her of her fear of riding after her ex-racehorse bucked her off. Curiously this is the same loopy fruit who said that riding horses was cruel in the radio programme Womans' Hour a few months ago. She is so bizarre and contradicts herself so frequently and blatently, that I do wonder if she would be better off in a secure ward for a while. A nice LONG while.
