And the newest breed .......

Bolonka?

I learn something new everyday, apparently this IS a breed, well, a variation of the Bichon anyway.

The Bolognese is a breed, I believe.

But you go on these sites and see 'Registered with the Scrappy Doo Registry Association/Small Weird Mongrel Club UK/Spotty Upside Down Terrier Club of the USA and a lot of people would take the claim that these are real breeds as gospel.

Brilliant.

:) :) ;) Bolognese, Bolonka both sound edible. :p

I found a Niagara terrier last night, possibly meaning that it lives in Niagara!

You LIE! there is NO SDRA! :( Yes, I am sad enough to have done a search :)

Good grief JR x Akita????!!!! Mind you nothing surprises me anymore, have heard of daschund(sp?!) x rottie - apparently though most had to be put down as they had rottie sized heads and diddy bodies!!

I have two rottie daschund crosses, sisters, both totally different.

someone living down the road upped and moved ,leaving the not so cute destructive 10 month old monsters behind.

If it is Bolognese (sometimes also called Bichon Bolognese) you're talking about, it can be traced back to somewhere around the 1100 or 1200 century.

Personally I think it is difficult enough to even try to remember some of the 400 something plus breeds that I think is recognised by FCI (Federation Cynologique Internationale), without adding all the crossbreeds with fancy names.

I've read about people buying e.g. a Cock-A-Poo believing that they've bought a purebred dog and far to often, they have also paid as if it was a purebred, which to me seems to be the biggest reason for why these names are invented, people pays more for dogs that has a breed name, whether it is a fake name or not.

In the days before these designer breeds existed, a friend of ours (a professional GSD handler) had a butt ugly but very lovely cross (he maybe had some sort of bull breed in his ancestry). His owner told everybody he was an Abyssinian Flock Hound, and actually had people asking to use him at stud  Just proves how easy it is to con the gullible.:D
