Somehow I seem to have acquired another dog!

Present occupants
Hera 12 years lab, limited life but still enjoying herself, vets gave her until Xmas but tumour is growing out more than in, so although she looks very weird, like she is growing a second head, she still has quality of life, enjoys a short walk, sleeping in the sun and eating

Lily, 9 years Staffie, ex Battersea and Top Dog

Beans 2 years Springer, working gun dog

Toast, 11 months working fox red/yellow lab, gundog in training.

So you'd think I had my hands full and another dog would be greedy, right?

Last Wednesday evening I was contacted by Toasts breeder asking if I had any friends who would be interested in Toasts near identical brother (there were only 2 this colour in the litter). My daughter has just bought her first home and her and her partner have been just starting to look for a dog to join then, she works long hours but shifts and Tom works from home 2 or 3 days a week, so would work with a dog walker, if a nice adult dog could be found. Dog is well trained, having been previously owned by an apprentice Keeper who had changed jobs and his mum was fed up of the dog in the house, so breeder had it back.

So on Saturday evening Bruce (yes I know, those who know my last name will laugh, those who don't can guess) came to live with us. Abbi is on holiday this week, then 3 hectic weeks in work, then a week working away, so Bruce is staying here initially until she gets sorted out. We'll meet up for walks midweek and she'll visit on her days off so they can get to know each other.

They have an active lifestyle, being avid hill walkers and mountain bikers, Bruce will come here for his holidays and when I need to steal him for gundog work. He is a cracking little dog, slightly more petite than his brother. It's just like he's always been here.

I took lots of pics today, then found a blade of hay was wedged over the phone camera lens.

I hope Bruce plays his cards right and doesn't think I'm training him too strictly. He likes a good game, good game

A-haaaaa! :D

Look forward to pics when you manage them ha! Fox red is my fav colour in Labs.

Obviously I have watched this all happening on Facebook but so glad that things have worked out Thistle. Lovely dog with a great name!

No, we just took Bruce to see how he was on his own. He is a perfect gentleman, I must work on my own dogs manners, sometimes pack rules take over. I am always firmly in charge though.

Lily came to the pub with us on Sunday after we took the 3 boys to the game fair.

Hera doesn't want to go out anymore, she finds it all a bit stressful, she's happy in her own domain with a short walk.
