comes the mud! aaarrrrggh. Because we have had so little rain over the last few weeks in this area ( not that it has really bothered me to be honest) the fields have been munched down to a pretty bare state, this in turn means that there is not much covering of grass and so, Irish bog pony and dainty miss warmblood had a ball creating lovely big mud patches to roll and roll and roll in after all the rain we've had in the last 24 hours :-(

I'll bet my last tenner that after all this moaning about the lack of rain, the moaning will start about too much of the stuff. Oh the joys of keeping horses in winter lol

I'm moaning already! Mine gets really bad mud fever and I want to start bringing her in before the mud starts, but it looks like it's in for the duration now so looks like she'll be coming in sooner than I hoped, boo!!!!!!!

Oh absolutely! I was delighted to have some rain so I could get out and do some canterwork without the usual 'it's too hard underfoot' worries, but it will be welly-sucking bog all too soon

Sameeeee they were all so muddy this morning and the field is so slippery grr i wanted rain but in moderation :S

our YO decided to top the fields last week, so not only have the horses grazed down to the minimum there is now a lot of muddy patches!! Although I do like my horse coming in covered with mud as like seeing the end result when he's nice and shiny

I did not mind the rain too much as it has filled me a couple of water butts so means a few days less of carting water to the field!

Apart from my bay TB, all my horses are light coloured!!! i have a steel grey welshie, a dapple grey and a tobiano filly who is grey and white - mostly white :0
They where all very dirty and muddy this morning and all looked very pleased with themselves!!

I went to the field in semi darkness last night and it took me a few seconds to work out which one was Archie (grey) and which one was his Appaloosa field mate.

Mine will be filthy, but then he is pretty filthy anyway.

Ours are currently still fenced off with some electric tape to keep them off their main winter grazing. I'm moving it out a few feet each day to give them some frsh grass, and to hopefully prevent too much of a bog around the gateway.

In a couple of weeks they will be let out and onto the whole field - they get 12 acres to play in over winter

No mud, but rain and 80km/h wind.

Just been out to find poor Lola wearing her rug as a scarf, she marched up to me, turned her bum and practically said "Fix this NOW, I'm cold!" So, she was tied back together with baler cord and marched off again, not so much as a Thankyou!

We need something to complain about otherwise we'd be bored

all mine have taken great delight in creating a mud bath - they started off spotty, dapple grey and palomino now they are all muddy brown

On our school yard this morning no one wanted to do 1 grey gelding, he must have found every bit of mud and rolled in it!!! half the field is on his stable floor now!

My fields are getting quite muddy with all this rain

My pony is caked in it, head to tail is black grr blummin greys
