Has anyone used the Andis 2 speed clippers on a horse?

I’ve got a variety of blades (from 3fc to 10) which are due for sharpening after a few more uses on dogs so if they blunt fast I’m not bothered!

He‘s quite sensitive and I was thinking these are quieter than your average horse clippers (and I’ve already got a set!) I’m only doing a chaser clip too

Never tried my Andis 2-speed on a horse, but I would consider it for one of my mares who hates clippers, if she won’t tolerate my Hauptners.
What blade would you go for? 7?
Likely yes, thats what I use for my poodles feet and face (a little longer than it should be really)

I do, they are fantastic clippers. I have one set for the dog and one set for the ponies. They are quiet, very light and absolutely brilliant for finishing sensitive areas, between the legs, mane blending and leg lines. I also use them for blending legs too. I use No. 10 and No. 7 blade heads.

he’s hogged and the only thing I’m not sure they’d stand up to is his thick mane

If you were needing to use them for hogging a mane, I would split the mane into smaller manageable sections, then tidy it all up at the end.

Well hes clipped and looks quite smart (for a first attempt) just feathers to do tomorrow.

Anyone interested in using these:

They did very well on a thick Irish cob. They didn’t get hot, i just made sure to keep them oiled and clean. They struggled with his mane (as i thought they would) but they did it, just had to go slowly.

I use them regularly for full show clips on my minis and they are good, but it will take a damn long time on a big horse lol. You can get a wide blade on them which may be better. The lead of them is not as long as i would like so an extension will be needed.

hes a 15.2/15.3 cob, it took me 2 & a 1/2 hours to do an Irish clip but it works well as it was his first clip and they’re quieter than horse clippers. I will be buying one of the wider blades
