Both of his horses (Francos Jeas and So Is Et) fell at the Dew Pond in the CCI*** on Saturday at Blenheim.

I saw Franco Jeas' fall and it looked a nasty moment. Horse was winded and initially looked in distress and very lame. The vet attended and they loaded horse to be taken off for examination. The fact that the vet was happy for him to be loaded seemed to be a good sign, after stewards had rushed over with the green screens and you couldn't help fearing the worst.

Really hope both horses are ok. Does anyone know? Thanks.

Just found Andreas facebook page and he states that horse, Francos Jeas, has heavy contusion and other horse ok as both fell at The Dew Pond. Good news. Not a good day at the 'office' for Andreas yesterday.

Unfortunately Franco Jeas had to be put down. It emerged during surgery the damage was far greater than they had anticipated and decided to not wake him up again.

I read this too on Facebook this monring - such sad news. Initially the x-rays suggested no fracture but after the swelling went down, they x-rayed again and the injury was more obvious.

Oh such sad news. Thinking of Andreas and his team. It did look like a fracture injury given how horse was holding his leg immediately afterwards. So sad to witness. A nasty fall.
