Bettina and Andrew Hoy, along with six horses, have arrived at the German Olympic Committee for Riding headquarters in Warendorf where they will stay for training. According to the German Federation Bettina states the reason for leaving Gatcombe was that Princess Anne wants to enlarge her horse breeding operation, and that Zara Phillips will also be increasing her yard.

The move is not believed to be permanent, and we hear that Bettina plans to return to the UK on a regular basis to teach.


I don't think they could find a yard in the UK, but how are they going to event from Germany?
 
It thought they were kicked out of Gatcombe for more scandalous reasons

The farm at Barbury? Obviously they didn’t buy it after all, don’t know though if or why not.
Eventing from Germany is no problem of course, you event *in* Germany – doesn’t do any other German eventers apparently any harm (bonus btw., no balloting for your young horses), travel a bit e.g. France, Netherlands, Lexington, whatever, same way you do travel from the UK, if they intend to. All the same, I too think there is something missing in this move, hm, I’ll leave that to the expert(s).
 
obviously i will get accused of only disgreeing with bos cos i dont like her which may or may not be true, its just what those on here say and if i put the matter straight wil just be accused of name dropping or one upmanship (what ever that is) but suffice to say not all the statements on this thread are true though one or two are close.....

The purchase of the farm in Wilts fell through at the very last minute, and as they had to leave Gatcombe by the pre-arranged date (they had had loads of notice) they had nowhere to go. Moving to Germany was an easier and more convenient option than trying to find womewhere here in a hurry. The current plan is still to buy somewhere over here in due course - but of course that may change.
 
argh some people on here reeeally annoy me...hence why I rarely make appearances, but am now getting quite good at ingnoring their posts!
Think this has all been pretty open, no secrets or scandal behind it. Of course there are probably details that people aren't told but those details are probably no-one elses business! Some people really do need to get a life and stop creating gossip that they know naff all about....

as you say poggio this has all been completely open and IMO rather old news. table dancer and danny seem to have their facts straighter than others as far as i know. i personally am sorry that A and B are going and hope they do find a place here soon, they have their ways but both of them are fine riders and bring alot to the sport in the UK.
there are always people making sly inferences where team Hoy are concerned, not just on this forum by the way, but frankly mostly they come from people who have no chance of winning as many world olympic and european medals in their lifetimes.
