Please may I have your thoughts on dressage training with either of these people please. Need to be good with a very sensitive mare (horse - not me!!!).
I'm desperate to progress and just don't seem to be clicking somewhere along the line so time for a trainer change me thinks.
I see Andrew Day does clinics at Elms Farm near Newark which isn't too far from me. Don't know about Jill Day though. Thanks in advance.

I have lessons with Andrew Day and he is excellent. I can not speak more highly of a trainer. The results he gets from horses are amazing and in a very short space of time.

Jill managed to totally upset a sensitive mare, it has taken a year to get her relaxed again. Others have spoken very highly of her though.

Guess it's down to personal preference.

Worked with Jill Day for many years have never ever seen her upset anything, she always comes down on side of the horse, she has trained her own really sentitive TB to Grand Prix level, has also trained a very sensitive chestnut mare to advanced and is well known for re-training racehorses. She is excellent at getting the best from the ordinary type of horse as well as ponies and warmbloods.

She has trained others to International Grand Prix, International Junior and pony riders, trained Sharon Hunt in dressage to the last Olympics, paralympians to 2 olympics, not sure she could do all this if she upset horses.

I have just checked her website and dont think she comes your way TTC so you might be better to go for someone nearer to you but if you want to check it out yourself it is www.jilldaydressage.co.uk

I had a lesson with Andrew DAy years ago and was enjoyable. He's been to our yard recently and I've watched a few lessons. My only comment about him would be that he doesn seem to alter the rider's position and concentrates on the way the horse is going. BUT I've only watched about 3 lessons so I'm no expert. Having said that those who have had lessons really rate him and feel they progress well and quickly. He is the co-author of the 101 schooling ideas book which I do love.

Hear, hear ddd.

Jill has helped me through some problems with a mare that was being a little tricky and not once did she provoke a fight or upset her. In fact quite the opposite, we worked constantly on working to improve her confidence not to break it down.
