Bit of a tongue in cheek one, but Katie Price has just revealed on the F-word that she spends £6.5K a MONTH on her horses - so no wonder he can cope with some press coverage and is smiling all through the dodgy photoshoots and cross dressing book launches!

hmmmm.... brother was laughing about that till I (really stupidly) worked out roughly what was costing what and gave him a breakdown...

so guess what, he has now worked out pretty much what I spend on my (only) horse and just given me the lecture of where I would be with my mortgage if I had not had horses.

and my response that I would be in a bigger house but very bored was apparently the WRONG answer!

I think she has 4 or 5 horses - so for 4 about 1600 a month each! But I guess that includes the fact that the horses are ridden for her, tacked up, mucked out, groomed, farrier, feed etc etc etc (I seriously doubt she rides all of them each day) and also gives her a lesson everytime she rides from the looks of her TV show..... So guess it would be pretty much the going rate for all that... tbh id rather groom and tack up my own horse, but wouldnt mind some1 else to muck out :P

Well, training livery could be anything from £700 to £1000 pcm per horse for a start, so if she has even 4 horses that's upto £4k before she's paid the farrier (probably £60 to £100 pcm per horse), vets fees, extra lessons, entry fees for hrself and of course entry fees / riders fees for Mr Gould if he's competing her horses for her and then running costs for her horsebox. It's a lot of money agreed, but it's not inconceivable

We have two on livery and they cost well over £1k per month

She apparently has 7 horses so that's actually not that much if it includes all their shoes and feed etc. Well, it's stupidly lots compared to what I spend on my horses, but still not hugely expensive for that lifestyle.

Woooooow...I just worked out that with what she spends on her horses per month I could keep my (only) horse for two and a half years..lessons and farrier included.

I don't doubt that it'd be eays enough to generate a bill of that much, and I spose she can afford it..but my god..

Ditto, I had mine on a SJ yard for over a year and it was £ 1000 per month for him without any lessons and maintenance ie shoes, wormers etc so I can easily see how she spends that.

It wouldn't surprise me that it would come to such amount although it seems rather low for 7 horses.
I would love to have so much money to spend on mine per month!

Oh dear is it wrong of me to have thought "is that all?!"! I spend £1k most months and I only have the one horse! Add into that full livery rather than part, several horses and chist knows how many lessons - I think it's quite reasonable

Well its lucky he's got the money coming in from her horses because I've heard from a few people that they've stopped training with him, or stopped their daughters going to him for lessons, because of his association with Katie Price........

(not saying anything either way, just pointing out).

That's interesting. I did wonder whether all of this would have a negative impact. Wonder whether he will regret it at all in the future? If KP were to give up dressage and take up polo for example would he be left high and dry?

Only musing - don't have an opinion on him to be honest and KP is entitled to do what the hell she likes with her money

Gosh how utterly random! When you consider how some top riders treat their horses (and how rude they can be to their clients), I have to confess I did not think associating with KP would stop people training with someone they genuinely thought was good. Maybe I am very naieve, but I can think of lots of people I wouldn't train with for various reasons, and the only time it is to do with who else they train is when I don't like the trainee's riding style/horse management and am suspicious it has come from the trainer.

i can see how that might be a reason if one objected to a media scrum on every visit to the yard, that would be enough to put me off. It isn't just KP after all, it is all the hangers on too.

I suppose so, hadn't really thought of the paparazzi - actually for entirely personal reasons generally it wouldn't put me off, currently it would. I suppose the flip side is that people still happily hunt with the beaufort...

I think his KP career is bigger than his dressage career so you can understand why he would go where the money is, and for as long as possible.

I dont doubt the press etc are an issue.

I live very close to Hannah Waterman and Ricky Groves (eastenders/strictly). Since this series of strictly began, the press have been seen hanging around near their house on a regular basis.

They check out people from a distance and only toddle off back to the car when they realise you are not Hannah or Ricky. Has happened to me walking the dogs.

Can only imagine the circus KP congures up on a daily basis.

People like that make me angry. Bet she doesn't get down the yard and muck out her horse, clean tack or hose mud off her boots! LOL

Neither do most pro riders. Neither would I if I could afford to pay someone else to do so.

I am sorry, but I think that is quite a horrible thing to say.
I hear Andrew is doing very well with all his young horses!

It wasn't meant to be but how many times has his dressage career got him in the horsey press never mind National press.

I'd never heard of him until his association with KP.
