Some of you might remember my post on the angry dad and his son on the mini-moto using the bridleway/footpath? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Well, last night I went to walk my dog on the footpath and noticed that the track has been completly cut up, covered in tyre marks and is really muddy. In the distance I could see a man on a trail bike. As he got closer he slowed down, I've not seen him before locally and he was quite a rough looking type in dirty clothes. I actually thought twice about speaking to him as he looked quite menacing and after the earful I got from angry dad I was quite wary, plus I was on my own in the middle of the country side.
But as he slowed up I thought bu**er it I have to say something. So I explained politely that this was a permissive bridle way and that it was illeagl to use a motor bike on it and it was cutting up the track. I couldn't have been more surprised by the response. He said how sorry he was, that he didn't know, he was so polite he even asked if I minded if he went to the other side of the field where he had left his bag!!!! He drove off and I continued my walk, I caught up with him collecting his belongings and he again apologised made a fuss of the dog said sorry again and left!
What a breath of fresh air compared to angry dad! I suppose it's a case of not judging a book by it's cover.
I am perusing with the council, police and access officer to get something more permanent done to stop motorbikes using the track.
