So I purchased an advance ticket offering 'garden club admission' for £28, great deal I thought as regular admission was the same price on advance ticket purchases online.

Today I received an email just to inform me that the advertising of the garden club has been quite misleading and I have not actually purchased event admission tickets, which must be bought seperately.

I don't want them now! Especially as I've already got access to the land rover area with a handily borrowed key fob ;) I actually dont think I even want to go at all now...I knew there was a reason the only local event I attend is Hartpury - it's not money grabbing. No instructions about how I go about getting a refund now for my MIS-SOLD tickets that are about as useful to me as toilet paper as they are getting in to gatcombe! GRRRR

The big BE events really treat people like dirt don't they! It really annoys me the lack of customer service. Can you not ring up and get a refund?

I'm going to ring up and go bloody mental at them! I read and re-read their website as I didn't think the tickets would be same price but nowhere did it say admission must be purchased separately, it positively implied the ticket was fully inclusive of admission on all 3 days.

If the garden club thing is like the members areas then for all the big events that's standard practice I'm afraid

It's not advertised as such on their website. I used to work selling corporate hospitality (at sporting events no less) so I know what I'm looking for, and they've fooled me, and many others as they've admitted in an email to me.
Honey08, it's in a couple of weeks but to be honest I wouldn't bother, go to Hartpury instead in August, fab atmosphere and you see loads more action if you don't mind not having a village of trade stands!

If they've admitted to you in an email that the advertising is misleading then they have to give you a refund if you ask.

In AprilBlossom's defence having just looked at the website - it doesn't actually say you need a normal ticket AS WELL AS the garden club ticket. Just that it's the same price as the normal tickets.

Actually - what ticket's what is really confusing on that website!! Plus it's a bit rich to charge the SAME again just to get access to a members' enclosure. That's double the price for entry.

At least Badminton make it obvious what the difference is between normal and members' tickets.

The worst bit is, having contacted friend who has already had her tickets delivered, she hasn't even been notified of their misselling, so had I not said would have rocked up with a car admission badge and garden club pass blissfully unaware!
By the sounds of it they've not changed the website then to rectify the problem either, nor did they email me from a recognisable 'Gatcome' address, so it's probably bypassed many others straight into their spam box..how convenient when the poor non-ticket holders arrive to be over a barrell and forced to pay admission on top!

Can you tell I'm building up some rage ready for complaint-central tomorrow! (I am quite an effective complainer actually so hopeful I'll get the outcome I want)

I've had a look at the website - that's definitely misleading. I reckon a mention of Trading Standards might help, and I also reckon Trading Standards might be interested if you don't get anywhere with the box office.

I've got them now, print screened the 'ticket info' which states that 'the price of admission is per person and includes entry to the event and car parking' - I have purchased 'garden club admission tickets', and as it states nowhere else on the website (I have trawled!) I don't see how they can not allow me entry with the tickets I've got!

I think they think they're being very clever and will have some upset people sadly handing over more money on the day as they've travelled a long way for the event only to be told if they actually want in it'll be another £30 each! The naughty buggers.

Okay, so I called them this morning and the lady I spoke to said she'd heard nothing of anyone else having problems with this misleading ticket advertising but thanked me for my call and said she would get it rectified. Website is now correctly stating an admission ticket is required too.
She has also agreed to post me admission tickets if I return the garden club passes in an SAE she is sending me...

I'm thinking keep the tickets and just get the passengers in the boot as we drive in!! :D haha

My friend has won 3 of these tickets and now they have turned up...with a special car pass it is a bit of a let down as we still have to pay entrance to the event. It is not clear on the website

Now that really IS rubbish - how can you have a prize that you cant use without spending more money, and where you cant access the prize without buying another ticket.

I would be leaping up and down massively.

Its OK to sell these things separately but only if its crystal clear its an upgrade once you are in sort of thing. But as a prize...words fail me...

Quite agree with the previous poster re getting a "prize" which you then have to pay extra to actually use. RBS were offering free membership to "executive" airport lounges if you held a certain RBS account. As we had a hideously long stopover at Schiphol Airport I thought I would take up the offer and become a member. OK I didn't trawl through the vast terms and conditions attached to the offer. Turns out you had to pay something like £15 per person to get into these lounges AND then that only allowed you to stay for maximum 4 hours. Much use as a chocolate teapot to us as you could buy a meal and drinks for less in the general public restaurants. As these "snob" lounges proudly state they have beds available for you to kip in I was looking forward to a nice long sleep during our 11 hour stopover, however I was NOT going to pay £180 for us to do so....... furious!
