I was tempted to lock up her stable but not far from us a mare and foal got burnt to death and this woman smokes on the yard so thats another worry i have...

I wish i could send her to stud but if there is a man in sight without me there then no1 can get near her and 99% of the time she is the same with women, i have been at my new yard a good few months and only recently has another girl on the yard been able to bring her in and even then i have to leave the headcollar on..if i had know from day one i would have

Don't fall into the trap of thinking that only you can handle your horse - send her to a really good stud with recommendations immediately. I think it would be extremely dangerous not to given the situation. A good stud will have seen it all and handled it all before and are in the best position to help your mare if she gets into trouble, or if the foal needs help will spot it early and do something. I don't know where you are in the country but I can personally highly recommend Lordship Stud at Writtle College in Essex and Twemlows in Shropshire. Other people around the country will have personal recommendations - move her asap.

sweetheart please please listen to the great ppl on here - get your mare of the yard - sorry she smokes on yard and not stopped - hun time to make decisions - hard yes but you must - you have a mare and baby to be to think of - get a good friend round talk about what you can afford what you want then plan but please sweetheart get of that yard asap as you can - pm if you want a shoulder - been there for different reasons but have fab shoulders - hang in there sweetheart xx

Do you or anyone on the yard have experience of foaling a mare? Do you know what to do if things start to go wrong? How quickly can your vet get there? Foaling isn't something to mess about with, especially as you have an interfering busy-body on your yard.

You can send her to a stud. A good stud will be staffed by well trained, professional horse people. They will be able to handle her, and it might just do her good. Plus, it gives the foal the best start in life.

Yes, the move may stress her a little bit, but for your peace of mind and her (and the foal's) well-being, you're far better off handing her over to the professionals.

Agree with the posters who suggest moving her. The situation just sounds bad all around - a YO who is not really present, a loony who feeds other people's horses and refuses to stop even when confronted, and the same loony who smokes there!

Nope, I'd move her pronto. Seriously.
