Im looking at getting a tack locker as my livery yard does not have a tack room and I'm sick of carrying my saddles around in car and it stinking of horse 24/7.

Prefr
My ideal one would have been the heavy duty steel ones which are pretty much impossible to get into, but to buy new im looking at around £400. My budget is around £300 inc delivery. If I could get a second hand one within this budget that would be perfect!!

So my question is, I have seen the Ani-mate ones on ebay and online. Im looking at the 2 saddle peg ones. They are roughly £210 +£45 delivery.
Are these Ani-mate ones really any good? They arent as thick a steel as the heavy duty ones but they look like they could do the job. Any feedback from anyone who has one would be wonderful!

So a few things;

-Are the Ani-mate ones any good?
- Are there any others which are similar to this one?
- Any second hand heavy duty ones anywhere? Has anyone got one for sale?? (im in North Yorkshire)
- Any recommendations

Any help/feedback/recommendations are greatly appreciated as I know most take around 15 days delivery I would like to get one ASAP!!

I had a one saddle animate one and I liked it, one thing i would say is though they're not overly wide so you have to kind of squidge the saddle in, i know they do a wide version though so that might be worth looking at. I tried the copy one off ebay first (they do purple and green ones?) and they were crap so you defo get what you pay for!

I have an Ani-Mate 2 saddle tack locker and it is great! Fits my 17.5" GP and dressage saddles in but I would advise saddle covers for the door, just in case!

Do they feel secure? That' my only worry that it could still be very easily broken into!

Think I am going to go ahead and purchase one, just want to double check!

I have one of these - they are quite lightweight so I put a concrete paving slab in the bottom to deter people from taking it (it was kept in an open barn). I do think the lock would be quite easy to pick but I didn't have anything of great value (old saddle) in it. At the end of the day if people want to steal something they will, this is a deterrent but not a guarantee.

I've also just been looking at these after replacing everything due to a stable fire. INHO the ani-mate ones do not look substantial enough to stop a thief, only one small lock. I ordered one from HEC showman which is manufactured to gun cabinet standards after I saw one a friend had. Its more than your budget but really does look a good bit of kit. Alternatively, I also looked at one from a company called Tackmaster, based in West Midlands, which also looks very substantial but comes with keys (the showman comes with a key pad). Would recommend either of these.

I've got the 2 saddle Animate tack locker and it's brilliant. This version has 2 locks so is very secure. My silly mare keeps rubbing her big back side on it (keep it in the field shelter) and it's none the worse for it. I also know that we've had visitors of the human kind who shouldn't be there and the tack locker has been untouched.

Found the service from Animate very good too.

I ordered animate lockers and was repeatedly let down on a delivery date. Went with Equivation when I met them at Burghley horse trials and they built me cabinets to my spec in a much higher gauge metal. Thoroughly recommend.

I have an ani mate and just ordered another one. Really nice quality and fast delivery. Mines is kept Ina garage though , don't know if I'd like it to be the only line of defence against real tack thieves! Good to keep your stuff secure from "borrowers" though I'd imagine ;)
