Sorry If someones done a post, if I havenet scrolled back far enough. I watched the gory sinus op and felt quite sick. The most unbelievable thing though was the man with the obese basset who seemed really chuffed that his dog was fat and that he had smoked salmon and steak to eat! How can you not see what you are doing to your dog, what a plonker

thats dog eats better than i do! and yes sinus op was VERY gross poor horsey :(
 
Grossed me out that they made a little 'door' into the horse's head!

I definitely couldn't be a vet. Felt really sorry for those bulls when they were piercing the nose!
 
I admit I had to wind it on when the skull cutter came out! I don't mind gory stuff but can't stand the sound of bones being cut!!

Very interesting though

Have to admit I scrolled past some of the more gory bits....well, I did watch it at 5am while having my breakfast!:eek:

They are amazing those vets though.

As for the dog, I said the same to my OH, how smug was he that he was killing that poor dog by stupidity?:mad:
 
Just be thankful it wasn't smelly vision! Saw this done to one of the liveries on a yard I worked at years ago, the smell of the pus was like a rotting corpse. I don't get botheredby blood and guts but that made me sick. I was heaving just watching it on tv, oh was in hysterics.
 
the stupid man with the dog made me so angry! thought it was hilarious he was slowly killing his dog...

didn't know what to think about the pericing of the bulls nose, to me it seemed really cruel but I dont know enough about it!

found the horse op really interesting but couldn't begin to Imagen the smell, ugh!
 
Question time! If a horse is sedated, wouldn't they notice it was wearing off a bit earlier? I know with anaesthetic the anaesthetist is continually checking, not sure what the difference with sedation is but surely they'd be able to notice before the horse was 'awake' enough to toss a head? It's just that it wasn't a little shake, it was a big head movement, usnig muscles etc.
 
I can see why they pierce bull's noses but just think its a bit mean! Suppose it's because you can't explain to an animal "i'm doing this because...it will only hurt for a second".
 
Pathetically I watched it sat on the floor because when they operated on the horse I started to feel faint so it seemed safer sat on the floor.
Felt sorry for he bulls though the local anaesthetic didn't seem to work that well or am I being dumb. No comment on the dawg they say ignorance s bliss tho.
 
Bulls have had nose rings for centuries. The idea is that handlers clip a sprung pole, usually one each side to move them about safely.

as for the horse op.........surprisingly i wasnt squeemish! was very interesting! i couldnt do it thought! :D
 
I know nothing about cattle but would agree with the 2 posters above-the local anaesthetic they gave those bulls patently did not seem to work. If their nostrils were numb,I'm a Dutchman.. ;)

hi I know the horse hes my horses bestfriend who also had the same sinius treatment its weird how close they are like they know what they have both been through monte's owner Julie is a good friend an often have a chat while there stood in the middle of the yard grooming lol monte takes a lot of sedation an Julie says he just snaps out of it like the click of your fingers as he often does when sedated at home
