Animal communicators - experiences?

My daughter is really interested in getting an animal communicator to our pony. I have mixed feelings. I am open to the idea of it, but also slightly sceptical. I do believe there are talented people out there with abilities to do things that most cant; however I also think there are a lot of charlatans out there!

I just wondered if anyone had any experiences they would share; good, bad or indifferent!
 
Will be watching this thread with interest. My head says it's a load of rubbish. I have had a couple of first hand experiences and though some things were spot on, most was not. The latest one asked for far too much information, so I didn't feel confident she was really connecting with my horse. She did come up with some really useful suggestions about how to proceed with him which made lots of sense though. I have yet to try them out though as I am feeling so down about him at present and need to be in a much more positive frame of mind. We are having a different AC come to our yard at the end of next month, and all my liveries bar one are wanting her to try to 'connect' with their horse. Years ago another of my liveries asked her to do a reading for their horse that was on box rest here and badly lame behind. The vets were stringing it along and we did not realise it, but the head of her femur was broken. The AC did say she was sore on that leg, but that her main soreness was around her withers, and this was really bothering her. We thought the AC had got it wrong until a week later the physio remarked how sore her withers were! The AC also described the vet in detail, and myself! So that is why I have chosen her to come to our yard.
 
Can I suggest that you do a search on here? There are several threads which get very heated, with the non-believers (most of whom have little or no experience of AC) belittling the intelligence of those with positive AC experiences. I have had positive experiences, so if you want to know more, please PM me, or search for my posts on the subject.
 
I'm neither a believer nor a sceptic, as I do believe I have communincated with a horse myself at one time. However I don't believe that just anyone can do it, and I have never managed it since that day.
But I did have a reading done on my pony, with mixed results. Some of what was said was plain wrong, which made me doubt the rest of it. Some of the things said were very funny and exactly what I'd expect from my pony (who I am sure does have a sense of humour). I wouldn't recommend the person who did my reading for anyone who wanted it as a serious experiment, mainly because the person got some things so very wrong, but as entertainment it was good value.
 
On the topic of this, has anyone had any good experiences of an
AC in Yorkshire? I'm willing to try almost anything at this stage with my mare so it's something I've been thinking about but can only find one in my area, whom
I can never get hold of!

I guess that's my dilemma. It would be great for someone to shed a little light on why the pony does what it does, but I know it's not science and I wouldn't be expecting miracles. However it's a fairly expensive exercise for purely entertainment value and money that is possibly better spent on lessons at the moment. But I am very intrigued and I know my daughter is too, so I think curiosity will probably get the better of us sooner rather than later!
 
My pony has been 'read' by one, she was spot on for 99% of what she said. It's quite spooky! Other horses were done too with owners saying she was spot on with some things, way out with other things :)
 
I used a AC earlier this year, one that is often mentioned on here and it was a load of rubbish. Nothing she said rang true about him and as I bred him I knew him very well.
One thing said he was a very strong sound horse and I've never had a horse with so many problems!:(
I wouldn't use again, although I can see why people are curious and wouldn't belittle anyone who feels this may help.
 
I am totally open to all sorts of things with the human mind - I reckon we only understand a tiny bit of its capabilities. However, when talking ACs, you need to be very careful. Many will ask for a fair amount of info about your horse, and can then do a 'reading' which uses this info and their general knowledge about horses to give a fairly accurate picture, which probably many horse owners with experience could also do. I think probably there are others who can do well if they visit your horse, going on the type of horse, how it is kept etc., and referring to offshoots of these obvious things in their reading. However, I have heard of one or two ACs who have been able to offer 'accurate' observations, with very little pre info - has this just been luck? I tried one for my boy - ensured that I gave as little info as possible, was asked for pics and made sure they gave nothing away, and even checked the info that I have shared on here about him over the years. Sadly the reading, done without a visit, just based on the pics, was not accurate at all - there was nothing really that matched me or my boy, or could even have been something that he had that I didn't know about. Interestingly, the AC seemed genuinely puzzled and quite upset that she hadn't got him right. Because it was not right, she also did not charge me.

I'm thinking of getting someone over to read my mare. I'm slightly sceptical, but I've had a major confidence crisis and nothing's helping me get over it. I've considered hypnosis, but it's so expensive, whereas a communicator would be half the price.

My thinking is, there is no reason whatsoever for my loss of nerve (no accidents, falls, bolts etc) and my mare has never given me any reason not to trust her, just a block in my head, so as the block's been put there by my head, it should be a simple job to remove it. Maybe a good communicator could put the idea in my head that my horse told me that she would behave and look after me when I'm on board (it's a riding issue, not handling; I'm 100% on the ground) it might help. I believe that a lot of communicators who maybe don't have a true gift but are still very good work on the Derren Brown principle of NLP (which I tried, but it didn't help my riding nerves, but all but cured my height phobia, so I know I'm suggestible in the right circumstances).

The downside is, my mare was rescued from abuse in Ireland, and I really don't want to know what happened to her, unless it would help her for me to know, in which case I'd have to be very brave.
 
The best thing about these scams, is that unlike real psychics, the animals can't confirm if the communicator is spot on or not. It's a complete load of old twaddle and anyone who spends their money on this nonsense deserves to be parted from it, or so my cat tells me.:D
 
I've used Jackie Weaver on a couple of occasions and highly recommend her.

When someone who's only seen you're horse in a picture tells you what you say word for word what you say to your horse at night (and its not the usual 'I love you, night night my handsome beast') or when you are doodling on a piece of scrap paper whilst chatting and she picks up exactly what Im doodling and that Im actually doodling.. Im not sure how you can logically explain that.

I'm thinking about using her again for one of my horses as his background would be very varied.
 
I had one out to my chap. Not sure how much was true but he was incredibly relaxed with her and afterwards and sighed and drank a lot, all of which was unusual of him. She also sold me a spray to use on him...I tried it on my OH and his back didn't ache for the first time in months!
 
Can someone tell me what they actually do? (Apologies if that is a bit dim of me) :)
 
I'm with the OP on this, I do believe there are people that can do amazing stuff like this but the majority (human mediums IME) IME seem to be charlatains.

My OH knew someone who had one out for their dog and was told the dog liked sausages and walks but didn't like being told off.... um well done! :rolleyes:

But however I know a lady who's horse had fallen off the side of the horsebox ramp once as a youngster and the AC described it all to a T. There's no way she could have known that but it was true :)

I've heard from someone about how amazing this one lady was with their horses and they couldn't be further from who you would expect to go for any of this sort of thing! In my eyes I see it that it's not going to do anyone any harm, as a last resort and if you have the funds, why not? :)
 
Each to their own I guess. Not something I would try but I wouldn't judge someone who sees it as helpful

One reading that was reported on here made me chuckle - apparently the horse didn't want to be a racehorse - he wanted to be a fireman :D (think that's right...)

I remember that! :D Wasn't there another horse who confessed to being homophobic? :D:D
 
I have had experience with one.

She come out to the property to do a reading. Was bang on in 99% of the things she said about my two. My AC had been to the property or met any of the horses on the property. She knew that two of the horses on the property were "missing/not there"... They had been PTS recently as one was sick and the other was really old and could barely chew food and would not have lasted the winter.

She was making comments about a friends laminitic pony who was on the property, but completely hidden from view and you couldn't hear him at all.

She also said a few things about my mum, who I have never mentioned to her, ever. She asked what killed mum, I said breast cancer... she said "no, that's wrong" - while holding her stomach (It was originally breast cancer, but it metastisized and spread to her liver... which is what killed her).

My relationship with my horses has been stronger since and has continued to grow and my horses relationship with each other changed dramatically after that day.

IMO there are quacks and frauds, but there are also people who are genuine. You just have to find someone who can do what they say.
 
My experience is actually doing readings for people using tarot cards. So I bought a book about how to read them and a pack of cards. My first reading I did for someone they chose the cards I read what it said in the book. He got very upset about the reading. I know that every single card that someone can choose will mean something to that person.

So it's easy to fool humans but if they are looking for comfort they are expecting to pick up on things. So I don't know. My friend had someone do a reading on her horse and it was rubbish but what was she expecting from it. My brother in law works in theartre and when physics are on they have watchers everywhere listening point people out and they have their own extras. But that's entertainment.
 
Can't quote on my phone hut Cooper Wilson in Yorkshire is supposed to be good. I think you have to have an open mind and not expect them to solve your problems
 
Update - I received my horses 'reading' last night, and have to say I was pleasantly surprised, quite a lot of comments wet accurate, some slightly ambiguous, but nevertheless correct, and some made me laugh, she mentioned something I'd said to a friend whilst standing in his stable, which did give me goosebumps! I've sent some (okay a lot) of questions back for more detail, but on the whole it was pretty good!!!
