Anyone know anything about them? Good or bad?

Just had my KBIS renewal and it's gone up and so has my excess. Animal friends can offer higher vet cover and a lower excess at the smidge lower price, plus multi horse discount.

Thanks

Animal friends are underwritten by E&L.
Personally I have used E&L in the past, claimed and not had a problem but there seem to be many posts on HHO with opposite views so worth doing a search of the forum before making a decision. :)

my veteran is insured with them. Not had any issues - claimed when he did a tendon and they paid out so quickly I didn't realise they had.
Person I spoke to on the phone was very helpful.

All my four are insured with them, as are both dogs. I have had to claim for three out of four horses in the past two months, one with an ongoing claim. they have been great, and settled the claims quickly.

Hope this helps

Animal Friends are not underwritten by E&L - I don't think they have been since 2008. From their website: "Red Sands Insurance Company (Europe) Limited (RSE) is an independent European insurance company that operates across a number of different market sectors and offers a diverse range of products and services. Red Sands is a part of the same ultimate grouping as the Hollard Insurance Group and the Lombard Insurance Group; and is able to share in the experience and expertise of both these global insurance players."

I have had absolutely no problem with them. Last year my vets were very late (well outside the 90 days) for submitting my claim on my TB that was euthanised and they still paid up for everything. This year, they have paid up for all diagnostics for LL's horsepital stay. Their turnaround is rapid and they couldn't have been more helpful.

best thing to do is ring your vet and ask if they will claim direct....if they will then theres your answer!

im guessing the answer will be no!

my vets wont claim from them direct (so id have to stump up and claim back!)..

im with petplan for horse and more than for dogs - both very good :)

Had lots of problems paying out for a dog. Very rude and unprofessional. In all the years of insuring horses and dogs these have been the worst. Would never use or recommend again.

I have my dogs with them and thinking about changing my horse over too. I had to claim for an emergency operation (dog hit by a car) and they were brilliant and really helpful. My vets wouldn't claim direct but we got the money back really quickly and they didn't quibble when I had to claim again for the full years vets fees 2 days after my policy renewing (dog got MRSA from previous op and needed to have metal work removed). I definitely wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
