I enjoyed it but was a bit surprised by the lack of control in the "protection dogs". A good protection dog should come off the sleeve at the first command, not have to be dragged off by a long line! Some lovely dogs on there though.
I liked it but MM can you tell me why none of the dogs have to heel? Is it normal for protection dogs to pull? I wouldn't have thought heeling would make them less keen. A good program though, I want the golden spangle they said was a springer - but looked like at least half cocker to me.
No idea why they didn't heel, as I said they seemed to basically lack control. Tbh I think these were basically attack dogs, and not much else was needed, hence the muzzles and the "5 metre rule". I will try and post video of dogs doing IPO/schutzhund work to show the difference.
That makes sense, I suppose you wouldn't need finesse in their guarding style, but it must be tiring walking on patrol with a dog lungeing at the end of it's lead - pulling on the lead is my all time hate!
