Did anyone watch it this week with the horse from Spindles Farm on (can't remember his name)? Was so nice seeing him loonying about in the field especially considering what he's been through. I also didn't realise that the testicles formed right up by the kidneys, I thought if they were retained the just hadn't dropped so were still relatively easy to find. Was very interesting :)

Also, that dog with the cysts on her head... I wouldn't consider myself particularly squimish but when they squeezed them out I did struggle to look. Poor dog, though she did look a different dog after her 'neck-lift' :)

Getting quite addicted to this program now.

I am shocked at how long that dog and the chinchilla had been left. The Chinchilla people were more collectors I suspect. And as for not getting the ringworm on the chap checked out asap just made me so annoyed, whilst the doctor that he eventually went to may have said it was just desmitis, I suspect it probably was ringworm as from experience of having it and also my doctor being stumped by my chillblains on my legs, referring me to a top skin specialist as a result who laughed when he told me that is was chillblains I doubt doctors knowledge on ringworm etc.

Agree about the chincilla and why the guy didn't get it checked out sooner is shocking. Especially as the mother(?) said she knew about ringworm.

I at first was really angry the dog had been left that long (2 years was it) but then she did say that all the other vets she'd seen had no idea what it was. But on the other hand I can't see a vet leaving a dog in that state even if they didn't know what it was. I think there may have been some BS somewhere in that story.

He was called "Ned" :) What a handsome handsome horse he turned out to be!!!! Yes i found the proceedure very interesting. Didn't realise that it could end up anywhere in abdomen area!!!! The reason for it being so important to remove!

Did you see the ickle horsey with the sarcoids last week? Ohhhhh, that looked sooooo sore! Poor mite!

Don't think I fancy going round to the guys house who kept caesar, the croc!!! :D

I didn't really believe that other vets hadn't known what the cysts on the dogs head were. My mums GSD had 2 of those cysts, (is it gross I liked squeezing out the muck), our vet removed them when they started to grow a bit, okay not such a major operation but that was possibly because it hadn't been left.
I quite enjoyed parts of the programme but don't like the way they seem to talk down to viewers.

The previous owners of that poor pony should be shot! How you can let sarcoids get that out of hand is beyond me!

I thought that reptile guy was awesome... clearly bonkers... but awesome. Loved the monitor lizard. I'd have loved to go round for a visit - though the 'meals on wheels' comment did make me chuckle... does that make me evil!

Ah, interesting to hear from another person who has come across this then. So clearly my assumption of BS was along the right lines then!! And yes, it is gross :D

Sometimes they do seem a little patronising but then I suppose, in general, most people on HHO are quite knowledgable about animals in general so maybe it needs to be dummed down for the general public. Though I might be coming across as very snobby and elitist here... but having heard some of the comments come out of none animal people in the last few days I can believe that things do have to be made that simple for them. It is quite shocking how highly intelligent people can be quite so stupid when it comes to animals!

Absolutely horrendous!!! Poor mare, the discomfort she must have been in! Learn from that, DONT BREED FROM SOMETHING IF IT GOT A SARCOID!

OHHH no, not for me, not into things like that. Like to look at them but not keep and live so close lol! Think I'd be a bit scared so close to caesar!

The prob for a lot of people though is that the vets fees are way WAY to high so those ops such as the cysts, wart in grey hound ear etc cost so much. If vets made it more affordable there would be a lot less welfare issues in this country. :D

I was also shocked that girl had let her dogs head get into that state & find it hard to believe a vet wouldn't know a cyst when they see one.

I wonder if they get the treatment free in return for appearing on the show

yeah, i was thinking that about the free treatment turkana. Otherwise would of had surgery sooner??

Damn - missed it again!! Can I catch up online anywhere??

One of the vets on there (James) is vet to our spaniels and is such a brilliant vet, has all the time in the world for us and has even called me at home over the weekends just to check everything is ok (alright, I admit, there is a bit of a crush ;) ) :D

Go to channel 4 website and watch on 4 on demand :)

those cysts were gross!!! lol. I couldn't quite get how, when he stretched the skin from the back though to cover the skin he'd removed, it didn't end up really tight and restricting the dog? Still, it didn't seem to but god how could they have left it so long - if another vet hadn't known what it was (hard to believe) then surely they'd have at least referred the case?

Was great to see how well the horse looked though.

I got very sad about Marley though and it just gets me so upset and angry that people abandon these dogs and that people still breed dogs when there are so many unwanted ones. He looked like a lovely dog, just misunderstood and not trained properly and i do feel for the charities that have to make the decisions to put these healthy dogs down but quite rightly what else can they do, the dog can't spend the rest of its life in kennels? Very sad.
