Opposite to the other thread 😃

I loaned a very pretty dainty part bred Arab mare called Fair Grace who was a delight.

My pony is called Darcy Bustle which also suits her both as a dancer as she's pretty and has moves and also as Mrs Bustle as she's a busy bee who doesn't stand still 🤣

I put my horse’s stable which is a shortening of his registered namename into chat GPT and it came back telling me that it is a charming and fitting name. It has a pleasant ring and could suit a horse with a sweet or gentle nature. He does indeed have the most lovely nature and so it definitely suits him.

I think Pippin suits his name. He's short (for now!), nosy, plays with things he shouldn't and doesn't always think before he acts. My sister has already told him he was a "foal of a Took!". And of course he has the full name Peregrin to grow into later.

Dad says Liberty's name suits her because she's "always taking liberties!". I think it suits her because she's a joyful free spirit.

I once saw a horse at a competition named "Magic Silver", he was a beautiful gray with kind of white starbursts all over him. The name really suited him and it was a shame to think he'd grow out of that lovely colour.

Floyd suits his name. He came out of the womb as a little old man and has stayed that way his entire life. He definitely sees himself as a very dapper older gentleman. I sometimes watch him prancing along doing his whippet trot and can just imagine him with a top hat and twirly moustache 😂 😂

I get asked if he was named after Pink Floyd a lot and he absolutely was not. There is no rock star in floydy!

I recently bought in 3 Shetland ewe lambs to widen my flock. I have named them Winnifred, Mary and Sarah, collectively known as the Sanderson sisters, because they are little witches who have found every possible weak point in my fencing and made a point of escaping to come and greet me at the main gate. Their colouring matches their namesakes too

My hubby is quite good at quirky names that suit personality or looks…..

Big ginger fluffy cat that arrived at ours as a stray and adopted us he named H.R. Fluff-n-stuff

My daughters sharp dingbat of a pony who would act first, think second named Captain Chaos. Always got a smile when she reported to the judges for SJ, dressage

………….and he once nicknamed me autumn leaves after a terrible eventing season where I kept coming off in x-country phases.

Jonny (short for Jonathan) suits mine for some reason. Hated it for ages but wasnt allowed to change it...and I am glad I wasnt allowed to as I feel it suits him. He's dopey, loveable, annoying...everything that seems to suit a Jonny

There is a horse at my yard called Missy, and while I am sure it is a complete coincidence, it turns out she is the most aptly named horse at the yard if you have seen Doctor Who series 8-10. She's not that nice to handle, a walking vet bill, and this past summer, she became obsessed with my horse when she came into season, so I had to have rows with her in order to get my horse out of the field because she'd follow us and try to chase my horse. The equine incarnation of the Master? I think so.

There was a cat that was abandoned near us when I lived at home. He eventually squirmed his way in with our other cat. He was really old and walked with his back legs crossed over which gave him a really wiggley bum. We called him Julian, after Julian clary!

We have a cat named Vass. Vass means reed (the plant) as there was a lot of that where he came from. It also means sharp. Vass has left a deep scar on my thumb, from when he was a feral kitten. He certainly lives up to his name.

I also have a horse called Oki, as that's kinda his personality. I don't even like the word used instead of 'Okay', but he is an Oki. Very mild and sweet, will do anything if you ask him to.

My gelding suits his name very well - paddock name is Riley - he is demanding and grumpy and very entitled....lives the life of Riley to a T.

My young filly has the paddock name Ella which has morphed into El and lately (H)el. She is a sassy cow and has strong opinions.....

The misnamed one is 10hh, cute and sweet looking and called Pixie. She is the diva and really should be called The Dark Fairy

Hermosa, of course. Means “beautiful” in Spanish.View attachment 169216View attachment 169217View attachment 169218
I'm a bit off topic but these are lovely photos. I might try and paint the scene in the first one, minus the horse and rider :) . I love the trees, the sky, the rock wall etc etc.

And in the third photograph, just btw, I love that bit of grass against Hermosa's right hind... oh, and the grass on her fronts as well, and her left hind disappearing into the grass and the shadow. Very nice.

This is Ted.
Ted is fat.
Google Lense identified Ted as a Racoon so he is occasionally called lovingly 'fat racoon boy'
Ted eats any plastic he can get his hands on and sleeps - that is about it.
He will occasionally sprint thorough the house, run up the palm tree in the garden, wiggle, yowl and then sprint back in and sleep for another 10 hours... or until dinner.
