Hi

I like the look of these saddles i think the one i like particulary is something like Salinero not sure of spelling though as although it is straight cut it isnt too straight if that makes sense, has anyone got one of these? What do they think? They are expensive but look to be of good quality. Also been looking at the minster dressage, they seem a very good price for a made to measure! Are they really made to measure? Anyone have any experiance of these?

Thanks

I have a minster gp saddle that cam with my horse was ok for the first year but have had various things go wrong with it (rivets in the front of the tree needed to be welded back together )and the leather hasn't worn particulary well. It's ok for the money but I would be more inclined to spend it on a second hand albion/stubben etc or look at the sale saddles on e bay etc if you know what type of thing you want.

I have been told the Minster ones aren't made to measure, but they do a big variety of off the peg widths IYSWIM! I may stand corrected on this though!

I have not heard good things about Minster saddles. I wouldnt consider them really but then again I dont like albions or stubbens either.

I think you would be better off having a saddler try a variety of saddles on your horse so you can find the one that suits you both.

Ok thanks i thought there must be a catch so cheap for a 'made to measure' I think thats what i'll do, only looking at the anky as my parents own a saddlery so i would get the anky cheaper as they have an account with GFS, although i dont like them she has a wintec with cair which fits her really well, i just need a 'proper' dressage saddle as she is so big moving and my instructor thinks i will need more support as we are hoping she may go to quite a good level! Anyone recommend any others, I'm not really dressagy although getting into it now so i dont want anything too straight!

without being biased, I love my SC dressage but then I fit for the SC!

If the wintec fits your horse I am assuming she is very typical tb shape (please do not tell me she is a cob) in which case I would look at an Ideal and Barnsby for that shape horse.

I also like Kieffers and they are adjustable so good if you have a youngster.

the thing about made to measure saddles is that they are made to fit the horse on the day. 6 months down the line the horse may have changed shaped dramatically (sometimes for the better if the saddle has encouraged a good topline and sometimes for the worse if there is now atrophy). Then the saddle no longer fits even though it was "made to measure". That's why I like SC saddles because the tree is adjustable in front, not just the gullet which does nothing to the front of the tree which sits behind the shoulders at the base of the withers. With my youngster he has changed dramatically going up and down in widths, and my anglo who was very poor has gone from a mw to an xw in 6 months.

Sorry i'm being thick what does SC stand for? She is a dutch warmblood and a chunky one too

sorry she looks like a sausage dog in the second one, i blame the angle! She does change shape but not dramatically now she is coming back into work, she hasnt been in full work since october and we have been working her since about feb march time so i'm quite pleased she kept her muscle, despite being off due to back injury, the physio didnt believe she had been out of work so long so i dont think she is one to change loads! I like the Keiffer and I'll have a look at the barnsby but you might change your mind now you see her build!
