Fingers crossed for a full recovery. She was a childhood heroine of mine, too. I've still got the book 'Anatomy of a show jumper', which was authored by Patricia Smyly with Anneli's full cooperation and published in 1970.

That is such a lovely picture - beautifully turned out, minimal tack and jumping the Hickstead Derby.

I think she is recovering well. I have her book, it’s amazing, she had so many more horses than Merely a Monarch. It explains why she changed from Eventing to Show Jumping. In her day, SJ was much more highly thought of, a more exacting sport and great prize money. Who remembers Xanthos? She was the first to ride for a company too with Sporting Ford.
She has had a very colourful life, you would hardly believe some of the escapades!
