So on Christmas day I got a text from one of my clients (I ride one of her horses), who just so happens to be my good friend's mother. She due to go on holiday on Monday (Yesterday), but the housesitter had let her down, and she wes desperate for somebody to come look after the 3 horses, 2 dogs, some sheep, and geese, and a cat. So me being me said with a bit of juggling I would be able to do it (bearing in mind I have my own yard, which currently has 9 horse's stabled ). I told her I would stay overnight and do morning and evening jobs, but during the day I would have to be at my yard, which she said was no problem as she understood it was short notice . She said she would pay me what she had been going to pay the original housesitter (which was a bit stingy considering I was to work 3 bank holidays and New Year), but seeing as I wouldn't be there most of the day I agreed . So Yesterday afternoon I turned up so she could show me where everything was, and how she did things, before she left in the evening. At which point she announces the dogs can't be left for more than 4 hours as they go ballistic, one of the horse's has laminitis, so has to stay in until lunch time, just going out in the afternoon. And then the geese have to be shut in by 4pm at the latest . I nicely reminded her I had a 9 horse yard to look after aswell, plus travel which takes half an hour each way. To which I was told I would just have 'to get on with it' and it wasn't her problem when I did my own yard . She also then announced she didn't have enough dog food to last the week, so I would have to go buy some more! Also one of the horse's is on 2 medications, both of which will run out tommorrow. Of course it being bank holiday the vets are closed, so tomorrow i'm going to have to call the vets to get a repeat prescription, then drive a 40 minute round trip, and find and pay for parking (which can take forever to get a space) to pick it up . Any body else get the feeling she is taking the proverbial ???????
Anyway got up today, did her animals, was carrying 2 buckets of water when I slipped over on the wet crazy paving . It really hurt, my wrist has swollen up, and can't put pressure on it, but can move all my fingers, so assuming it's just soft tissue damage. I also managed to bang my elbow which is now getting really stiff as i've sat down and stopped using it. And the worst being my back is now hurting alot (I broke it a few years ago doing a fair bit of damage to my spinal cord it is a miricle i'm still walking) and can't move it at all, i'm all out of ibruprofen, and paracetamol isn't touching it . I know it will be worse in the morning, when I last aggrivated it (which was about a year ago, and wasn't as bad as now) I couldn't ride or muck out for 2 weeks .
Luckily one of my lovely friends has stepped in to help out on my yard, but i'll still have a lot of heavy work to do, as well as riding the horses, plus all the work from the house i'm housesitting for. I feel a little bit like i'm up *cookie* creak without a paddle. Anybody got any bright ideas ??????
To add insult to injury the bucket of cold water landed on my head, drenching me from head to foot with icy cold water.
Sorry for the moan, just i'm so cross and my back really hurts . But there may be a fun sized bag of Haribo if youv'e got this far !
