Im in the team for the Pony Club Championship Centre team, i wasnt straight the way due to connie who i loan being lame, but since ive been riding the horse thats is going for about 5 months and get along well with her better than connie i think.

Now this girl who had hurt her hip is able to walk again, but not ride intill Wednesday a day before the championship and hasnt ridden in about 5 months, is in the running for my place, and i think this is really mean as ive been put on the team probably because she was injured.

I just had a phone call saying that if she was able to ride for thursday she would take my place even though she would only have one day to prepare for the compatition as she is desperate to go (so am i), she was on the team before she hurt her hip but its been 5 months and im going camp which is where i ride the whole team is so we get longer to practice and she isnt due to her hip.

I was just wondering if i have a right to be upset about that and if she gets on the team one day before the compatiton to say something as ive worked really hard for this and it feels like my dream is slipping away, =[ i still may be on the team but i have this feeling i wont be =[

Sorry for the long rant i just feel cheated and very upset.

thanks charlee

Id phone them up and tell them to be honest !! that is so unfair - so what if she wants to go there is next year and seems like you've worked hard for your place !!

Yes I'd be very upset, esp if I'd been preparing/riding the horse- you've done the work and she'll either reap the rewards on your behalf or mess up.

What an awful thing to do to you.

I would phone whoever is in charge and give them a blast (or get your mum to for you).

I think they are behaving very, very unfairly - and actually rather stupidly!

Yep going to have a word tomorrow, and see whats happening, as its getting me reallly down.

Okay she might be the better rider and been on the team 5 months ago, but ive worked hard for this and have been for the last 5 - 6 months, if i get kicked off the team the day before i will be so upset.

Doesn't sound fair at all to me, you have work hard for your place. I would definately speak to somebody regarding this, not very nice at all for you.........

From what I can see the PC seem to do this all the time.

They've done a very similar thing to my friends daughter who does prince phillip. One minute your in it then at the drop of a hat your outed & you have to accept it.

It does'nt look like fairness comes into it. If it's the pony they want they'll have it, if they want a different rider on your pony - they'll do it and not even give it a second thought about what hurt their causing.

It's all about prizes - sod the feelings of people.

Glad I was never in it! - The only thing that I've missed out on is being used and messed about by the organisers!"

I'd be uspet too, that really is not fair. Point out that as the other rider is unfit not having ridden for so long, then they lower their chances of winning. That might help.

Having been off ponies for 5 months & then expect to be physically fit enough after being back a day or so is ridiculous. Is she , by any chance, related to the person organising the team?

You have every right to be upset. Unfortunately this sort of thing seems to happen a lot.
Can you speak to the organiser of your team. If nothing else, you could make your feelings known

I think you've every right to be upset. It seems really unfair and i think you should speak to the organisers and let them know how you feel. You've put loads of work and time in. Join another club if thats how they treat people.

doesn't just happen at PClub - happens in adult teams as well
seems to be yet another example of who you know rather than what you know....

you are right to be upset

all you can do is to write a civilised letter to the DC and point out what qualifications you and your pony have
what qualifications the other rider has

and importantly what dates and the probable fitness level of both the horse and rider

by the sounds of it you wo't get your team place back - make the letter short and to the point, don't ramble on

at the end state that you are keen to do your best for your team and pony club and wonder what you need to do to further (training, extra lessons, more competition form, whatever) to make a place on the team.

That puts the ball in the PC court to 'point you in the right direction'

keep it business like and to the point

when you get an answer - you'll get an idea if they value you or are merely taking the p*** - if its the latter and you have transport then change branch

Not that fair on the rest of the team either, to have someone who may let them down coz of fitness issues or have to pull out if her hip starts hurting again.... perhaps a little word with team would be in order too!!!???

that is bang out of order. I think that your Mum should maybe have a word with them and explain how unfair it is. I really can't see how someone who has been off for 5 months will be fit enough in 24hrs to compete. It is very unfair, all round. Good luck and I hope they see sense xx

thanks everyone,

PF, nope its not her horse.

Im having a word tomorrow at dressage and show jumping training(for the team which she cant do)

Thanks again everyone

I would be thoroughly peeved and would make a point of inquiring after her and her horses fitness and just say that you are devestated. Not very nice at all!
