annoyed annoyed annoyed!!!!!! freddie has decided he likes to pull shoes off  so ive been on a hunt for some over reach boots to prevent this!

so far ive tried:

the cheap rubber ones but they just rub sores on him and make him bleed, so i then tried these after i covered his legs in vaseline and show sheen (not at the same time ), but alas they still make him bleed :(

so i then tried the fluffy rubber ones...... FAIL AGAIN!

so que me spending yet more money on my awkward horse and got some kevlar no turn ones from premier equine, ordered a medium as he's tiny in all respects for a 16.2 TB! but these only just did up and werent long enough so he would have still been able to pull shoes off!!! so after the hassle of sending these back and getting an exchange for some large ones......

they finally arrived today, i thought yay just in time for my dr lesson...... they dont bl00dy work! span round like a merrygoround! they are long enough for him, so actually cover his heel so he cant over reach and pull his shoes off but it would appear they are too loose hence the spinning around :( im lost! i dont know what else to try

why oh why cant i have a normal sized horse, not one thats in between sizes!!

alas im off to burghley tomorrow maybe ill find something there :D on the other hand if anyone wants/needs a brand new pair (yes i ordered 2!) of premier equine kevlar no turn over reach boots in large, i have some for sale..... cant really be bothered with the hassle of trying to get a refund!!

can anyone else recommend me some that actually stay still and will fit a 16.2 TB who usually takes a cob size/ medium, he has cob size event boots and the medium rubber over reach boots fitted fine :)

unfortunatly i have nothing to offer as my dinner still isnt ready.... cant wait to turn the aga back on!!!! :D :D :D

Oh dear, sounds quite annoying/hectic, we're off to Burghley tomorrow too :D

i share your pain - i tried PE no turn ones and it's all they did. I have been told New Equine ones are good and don't turn but not tried them yet so couldnt say if thats true.

Good luck

Have you considered the Westropp ones? Can add/remove petals to get ideal fit and cut to length if too long.

i havnt do you mean the plastic flappy ones that make a horrid noise?? :D or do they do a neoprene one?? i have no idea!!!!!

Professionals choice should do the job ( I think)

i havnt heard great things of professional choice, so i was avoiding these, but if i find some at burghley tomorrow, ill take a look :)........ unfortunatly my burghley shopping list is growing :D.... but the size of my account isnt!!!!! :D

With the cheap rubber ones, have you felt around the inside lip of the top of the boot that go around the pasterns? Some boots have a rough raised rubber line that rubs like mad, others are smooth. If yours are rough, file them down or buy some smooth ones. If yours are smooth already, then I'm no help, sorry :o

What are his hooves like? Are the toes long with under-run heels?

he has really long pasterns, no idea if that makes any difference!! one of his feet is horrible! its all boxed shaped, this is the one he usually pulls the shoe off! and the other looks like a normal foot! i dont think he has long toes, he tends to walk on his toes always scuffs his shoes across the toe, and when i say scuff i mean make his shoes wafer thin across his toes! farrier is working his bum off to make his feet a nicer!

i have this pic of his boxed foot: (please ignore the nail issue..... its sorted now!) this is the only pic i have!!! probably doesnt help you!!

they are smooth already :( thanks anyway

Re Westropp - yep, the noisy ones :D - though they are now made of a strong rubber rather than plastic and not nearly so noisy! What I particularly like is that if pony does o/r whilst hooning a petal will rip off and I believe they are designed that they then move so the heel remains protected and the gap shifts to the side/front until such time as you can replace petal. Not had that proven yet. My lad is 14.1, I had 4 petals left over as spares and they came with 2 spares anyway I think.
