After being very patient and doing lots of ground work and physio with my mare today was going to be the day to get back in the saddle after not riding her for a year! I was terribly excited.

Then last night while doing a pre ride lunge, she threw a shoe!!!!!!
Farrier not up 'til Friday!!!

How bl***y frustrating!

Rant over.

Blimey your farrier can't be busy then or you have quite a few in your area! My farrier is booked from start to end of each day so getting him out to put a shoe back on means waiting for him to jiggle his appointments around or waiting for a cancellation. To be fair if he is in the area he might squeeze you in but he is a verrrry busy man. Just to add I am not slagging my farrier off in any way! He is the only one I've used that is ALWAYS early or bang on time for his appoints. Yay!

You are very lucky indeed to have yours available that easily

Depends how big the yard is. At my old yard, which was a big livery yard and riding school, the farrier used to come every Tuesday and Friday and had a long list both days.

Yes, there are 50 horses on the yard so he's got at least 5 to do every week. Hoping she might not feel the foot, it is a back shoe and I'll be able to do something in the paddock. However she's a TB so chances are she will feel it!!!!
