Little bit of a rant, so I go to use my schooling whip the other day and its broken and not by me! I dont mind people using my stuff, I prefer that they ask but surely if you broke something you would at least apologise if it was me I would either replace it or give the owner some money etc! I'm on a small yard with only a couple of other liveries I have my suspicions of who it is I have left a note but I doubt anything will be done! Do I really have to keep a whip in my car? Sorry rant over just annoyed, has this happened to you, cant believe the cheek to be honest!

I would advise you get yourself a cupboard with a lock on it - I have an old office type one that has most of my things in that comes from Yard to yard with me, I got it off ebay for about a tenner

I know its annoying but there is no point in making enemys on a small yard for the sake of a schooling whip ... you have to go there every day !

I have practically everything locked away, but the schooling whip wont fit, a few other liveries belongings have gone missing since a certain livery arrived, the owners of the yard aren't too happy about how the livery in question is keeping there horses so I think they will probably be asked to leave, I havent made a huge fuss as like you say it is only a schooling whip and I'm not the confrontational type but its more the principal and I'm surprised at how people behave!

Im not surprised about anything that happens on a livery yard :o

If it doesnt fit in your locker, keep it in your car. At least you will know its there and in one piece when you want it.

This is more than just the schooling whip as your other comments have shown.
You have a thief on your yard and thats never pleasant.
Dont be to quick to point the finger at one individual without proof though.
Your yo needs to call a meeting and discuss the issues.
As for the person whose not looking after her horses properly, id expect a good yo to discuss this with the owner and not other liveries, thats how problems start

The person who had the other stable next to me took my extremely expensive aubiose fork (had a fork of her own but it was cheap tat and useless) and broke the head off the shaft then had the cheek to tell me via the YO that it was clearly wear and tear and so she wasn't prepared to even contribute to its replacement, let alone buy me a new one. My horse was on box-rest at the time so a fork was a bit of a necessity. Unfortunately she lived right up the YO's backside so I didn't get any sympathy there either. It wasn't the only thing of mine she "borrowed" so her attitude didn't come as too much of a surprise TBH.

Or just a hiding place down the back of something on top of something - mine live on top of a wall - our barn is half brick half timber so they are about 7 foot up and can't be seen. maybe under a pallet ?

Annoying to have to do it I know :-(

Umm feel ur pain. Think this is an unfortunate hazard of a livery yard! Altho, i previous yard was very good and in 2 1/2 years noone touched my stuff (wasnt even locked up!)
