is this wrong to be annoyed?

i called my farrier 2 weeks ago to find he had gone on holiday for 2 weeks and he got back on the 7th so i left him to enjoy his well deserved break. any how, this past week, i have texted 3 times, and called him to get his answer phone and i still havent heard from him? were good friends and my mare really needs shoes!

i would be annoyed. i would call and if he doesn't answer, leave a message to say that you horse is in desperate need of new shoes and can he please return the call or you will have to find someone else.

When my horses are shod I make an appointment for the next time then & there. Mine are shod every 6 weeks. Why don't you do the same? Then you won't have this problem.

i do that too but we've just got this horse and he hasn't shod her yet. i will ring him tonight and if i dont get an answer i will say that if you dont call me back i shall find someone who will. i just dont want to fall out with him as hes a nice guy!

sounds like a typical farrier to me. i had one that never phoned back and my horse lost a shoe and i still didn't hear back even to say he couldn't shoe him anymore

i was so p****d off, i've seen him at shows a couple times since and completely blanked him

he's probably really busy catching up after his break

My farrier did this... I would find a new farrier. I hate farriers like this, if a horse needs attention, lost shoe or lame etc, then I want someone who can get out with in a day maybe two. My new farrier seems pretty good especaily as Spider had awful feet. He said if his shoe looks even lose then call him straight away and he'd be out. He also text on a SUNDAY to check how his feet were. I just hope he doesn't get too popular and busy and become a typical farrier.

I think with all the money we put the farriers way that they would be wise to remember they are not the only farriers around. If we were given such bad service from any other type of business we would not put up with it. Most are really good, but some do seem to think they are doing US a favour!

Do you not book your next appointment while your farrier is still with you? I don't understand why many people don't. It means you have an allotted space and the farrier knows how to space and route things.

my old farrier wouldnt do this with apps, didnt like taking his book, was such a pain

Thank goodness I have found a super farrier (taken many years I have to say!). I always pre-book and if I have a problem I can always ring him and he will offer advice and will come out (within reason) as and when.

Thank you Nick for being such a good and obliging farrier!

the best situation i had with farriers i was about 19-20 and me and the farrier had a mutual crush thing going on, i could ring up and say horse has pulled a shoe and it was, im just on my way home but i can come out now, i'll be half an hour...etc

gutted when he moved
