I am new to horse ownership and have my horse in full livery. My previous share lived in a field and I rarely saw anyone else. I'm aware that I'm in a fairly busy yard now and don't want to do anything that might annoy anyone else without realising.

What things do people do that others find annoying?

Leaving debris strewn around your stable door.

Leaving things in dangerous places - haynets where they can be caught on legs, forks where they can reach them from stable door.

Moving other peoples things for reasons other than access/safety (i.e that is MY saddle rack, it has my horses name on it, you can sod of with yours :) )

Most other things other people can have a hope with, for example I hate people talking to me when I am schooling (I am very quiet when I am concentrating), however sometimes I want a break and will quite happily stop :D

People who leave mess in front of your stable when they are emptying their wheelbarrow, but only sweep the bit outside their stable.
People ' borrowing' things without asking.
People tutting at others when they are doing there horses.

Too much talking or drama.

I like to relax and enjoy my horses....I don't want to hear the telephone custody battles of the livery three stables down...or how stupid someone thinks their horse is.....or the gossiping of people who spend more time chatting than they do with their horses

(having said that, I DID shout at The Tank today for raising a hoof at my old boy :o).

I'm not saying that you would do this, but people shouting at their horses really loudly so that the whole yard can hear them really irritates me. And people who don't follow the rules of the school ie. passing left to left etc. Another thing is when people leave their stuff in places that gets in the way of others, a full livery at my yard struts around as if she owns the place and always leaves her stuff on top of the mounting block so that someone else has to move it.

On livery yards, I'd say borrowing stuff. No reasonable person minds in an emergency, or if you ask to try something for size briefly, but people who make a habit of it are endlessly annoying.
Mess- again if someone walks past my box leaving hoof pickings, or hay etc, I don't expect them to clean up that second, but I do expect it done.
Getting in my way, eg leaving your barrow blocking the yard & disappearing for ages.
Feeding other peoples horses, or infact doing anything (other than in an emergency) without asking first.
Commenting negatively on others routines or choices without very good reason. And even then should be addressed to ym or person in question rather than two faced gossip.
Leaving stuff lying about, everything from swamping tackroom to baling twine. And dirty brew cups.
If there's shared arena use, not following rules or having basic consideration for others, or being too precious about what you're doing.
And a recent fave. If you tie your bad mannered horse up next to my daughter grooming her pony, & said horse nearly ploughs through them both, don't be suprised if I tear a strip off you. Especially if daughter was there first, & there are plenty of safer places to tie up.
Guess people annoy me generally!

Not skipping back the muck heap is my pet peeve - how can I empty my barrow if everyone else's have been dumped at the front?!
Using my stuff and not putting it back where they found it in the condition they found it.
People criticising how I work/tack/manage my horses.
