hey guysss,
so fox has decided its now a good idea to pull the hay out of his rack and drag it through his bed instead of eating it. not only is it a total waste and costing me a bomb in shavings (), it also means hes getting less to eat.

tonight i bought 2 small holed haynets in the hope it will stop him, eventhough he already gets a net + his hayrack.

any ideas why he could be doing this? Its just became a recent thing.

Not heard of this one before. The only thing I can suggest is to buy a small bale from elsewhere, and try that ?

One thought - could any animal be getting into where the hay is stored ? Fox, cat or dog even ? Might be a long shot, but it's happened to me at a few yards.

Sorry, I can understand that.
I was just wondering if he preferred to eat from the floor. Mine has a hay bar but prefers to pull the hay out and eat from the floor.

yeah i might try that if the new haynets dont do the trick.

doubt it, our bales are all wrapped up in plastic and stacked until they are used.

hes such a bloody pain!

Maybe he is saying he isn't that hungry so doesn't need both net and bar.

Our old pony used to do that to any hay that was left over once he had finished what he wanted to eat.

dont think its that as before he started this he used to always finish them and more, hes a grubber. he also needs to put weight on so this is also concerning me that he's just wasting food

My lad does this, he grabs too big a mouthful then looks to see where our mare is, dropping the surplus on the floor, I pick up whats under the rack and put it back in, if he has spread it round his box it gets binned

i cant even do that cos fox wont eat haylege thats been in his stable for a day. say he has half a net left. if i go and just top it up he wont eat the haylege that was left from the night before. he is unreal
