Interested in hearing experiences from people who’s horses have had a similar diagnosis.
Diagnosis of chronic fibrosis and thickening of annular ligament caused by repetitive strain or trauma (nobody knows the exact time of onset). Horse has been turned away for a different issue and has now added this to her list.
Can anyone tell me how long it took from the initial injury/strain to seeing the characteristic bump above the fetlock and it being hard?
TIA - satisfying my curiosity

Who knows, the bump was the first sign and even then not really particularly lame. Straight hindlimbs and had spavin on the opposite leg so likely compensating, though there was thickening on the other hind too. Age (24) being the biggest factor really.

I think it was about a two or three weeks. I think it was an injury when my horse turned round in his stable and really banged that leg. He was fine straight after. The first thing I noticed was one lame stride when ridden (he has full feather so didn’t notice the lump first).

Annular ligament was cut but both before and after the surgery there was no bump still isn't after 18 years. Presented as mild but clear intermittant lameness scans revealed the sticking
