Another 'abandoned?' horse,

Poor horse, hope he gets sorted soon :(
This is why I NEVER call the RSPCA. More useless than a useless thing (unless it's high profile and will make them look good anyway) I hope WHW get involved they seem to get things done but never get the credit they deserve.

I'd pinch it during the night! Id wreck the fencing, tie a rag over its eyes and drive it into the back of me red van wiv a few of me mates and family keeping watch for the rozzers!

I think if I had my own field I would have a collection of these poor souls. :( Esp because that's literally on my doorstep. Looks a lovely type too - maybe Horseworld could have him?

I think the RSPCA is fine for small animals, but in my experience they've been useless with horses :(

ETA a few years ago there used to be a very gorgeous friesian type tethered alone on the dual carriageway near cribbs causeway. Took all my willpower not to go and collect it in the night.

One does not need the brains of an Arch Bishop to work out which part of our 'community' abandoned the horse! hence NO interest from the RSPCA.
Now if it were owned locally and the RSPCA knew this they would have descended upon the owner with the fullest weight of the law.
Or am I being cynical about the RSPCA.........

It is highly highly unlikely to be abandoned. It has merely been tethered by a traveller on a public piece of land. They will be back to collect it no doubt.

I've just seen this article posted in a horsey fb group i am in. Poor horse, if i were a bit closer i'd pop over and have a look. Expect he's been tethered there by travellers for some 'free' grazing. I'm sure they will be back soon to take him away, what with all the publicity he is now getting!

Completely agree, why is the any different from any tethered horse "appearing" anywhere???? For this to make the news!! wow, they must be short on stories in wiltshire!!!

it's not a common occurance around here which is probably why it's made the local paper, not short on stories round here, last month we had 'man charged with having sex with a goat' !

nearly spat my coffee out then!! :O!!
But in seriousness, whilst it may not be a common occurence there, it is nationwide and if the RSPCA prioritised dealing with all these instead of (with all due respect) seriously neglected and abused animals, everyone would be up in arms over that too!!!

lol i think i did actually snort tea through my nose when i read the line ' he was under curfew and not allowed in fields or barns containing farm animals' ;) with regards to the RSPCA, when it involves anything bigger than a hamster i wouldn't bother wasting my time calling them, BHS are much more effective.

Then if you are that concerned re this horse, call BHS! :-)

I think it very much depends on peoples experiences. I've personally had dealings with 2 different BHS field officers 1 was a complete waste of time!! the other fantastic!!!
