Woman killed in stable accident
A woman in her twenties died after being injured by a horse at a Nottinghamshire stables.
It is thought she was helping a vet with the horse's foal at the time.

Police have confirmed to the BBC that a woman died following an incident at the West Bridgford Equestrian Centre on Adbolton Lane on Friday lunchtime.

It is believed the dead woman was kicked by a horse in the head. Managers at the equestrian centre have refused to comment about what happened.

Sympathize to everyone invoved. RIP.

Taken from artical;

A man who used to ride at the stables claimed that Treacle had a reputation among staff and riders for being hard to handle. He said: “Everyone I know who used the centre knew the horse had a temper. I know people who made a point of never going near her.”

If what is said is true about the mare.
Why would you breed from such a mare unless at the top of it's sport?? Not saying that this would of stopped the terrible accident from happening. It could of been a routine vet visit that it could of happened with.

If the horse had a temper that was known about I would have expected people to wear a hat when handling it. Expecially during foaling when mares can be even moodier. A kick to the head wouldn't have been so bad then.

I feel very sad for the family involved, also the owner of the horse, but I'm sorry, I have to agree with you there; this mare should not have been bred from - full stop, no matter how good she is/was; how could you ever guarantee the youngsters from her would always be in professional yards that could cope with that type of behaviour?
What a waste of a life; it brings to focus what a risky hobby/job we have.

Thank you for agreeing
I did think I was going to get shot down by people but I do honestly think to many people are breeding from poor quality mares never mind ones with behavioural/temperament problems.
I terribly sorry what happened to this young lass that was new to the stables. Her family will be devistated & any of my opinions will not bring her back.

i agree with you there claire - i didnt want to say it though! (cus im a wuss) but if youre handling a horse who is known to be hard to handle you need to ware a hat, and it doesn't say if she did or didn't in the article. still, it doesn't make it any harder on her family xx

does anyone actually know that she wasnt wearing a hat? - depends how and where she got kicked poor lass.

RIP and sincere condolences to the family. It takes something like this to wake you up the reality that no matter what they are big animals.
